baldy don't rise to it. I know I would, but you're older than me (I think) so you should be more mature by default

Quite a high number given you have no interest outside Oufc

Thing is - he used to be a good poster. As soon as he bantered with you (Junior) he decided to go anti-Junior. This lead to anti everything he associates with. CB and anyone correct me if i'm wrong.

I think Ricky Otto's criticisms of this section of the forum have just been summed up perfectly by pages 3 and 4 of this thread. Back biting and bitchiness to the extreme.
Baldy is an integral part of this forum and his posts on Oxford are, for the best part, bang on the money. However, I will contend that he won't argue an Oxford point to the death as much as a Man United/Arsenal one though. His current view is that Tonkin is better than Kinniburgh which is seemingly not in agreement with a lot of posters on here. Will he argue that one? Not really - it's often just the one post about it. Will he argue the virtues of Berbatov being a 'flop'? For five pages, yes. He does post some great stuff about United (and I mean the only important United here), but it's never argued to the same degree as Man United stuff.
Secondly, his confrontational tone does get people's ends up as well. He called me 'show's what you know about football - clueless, pal' for suggesting that Jose Bosingwa was better than Gary Neville by virtue that he scored some good goals on the old forum. Sure, hardly the biggest insult in the world, but in the spirit of 'debate'? No. Slanging for the sake of defending his other team.
Nonetheless, the N+I section is still my favourite car crash - I shouldn't look, but I do just to witness the carnage going on in here at times. The Highbury architecture debate is still my favourite 'argument' between Ken and Baldy. ;D

I'd agree with pretty much all of that.

Well he isn't obviously isn't THAT much of a one-eyed United fan seeing as he seems to have a hard-on for Man City and Stoke, two clubs they ordinarily hate.
I've never made a secret that I think all these posters (because we're not just talking about one person here) that have such strong public loyalties to another team, are being disrespectful to OUFC. But that's just my opinion and that debate's been done to death.
the N&I is what it is, and I don't think it's that bad. The sniping just amuses me now, and there's some reasonably decent football debate mixed in with it.

But, I think, you are complimentary in the main so thank you. A couple of things though. I've referred to a few on here as 'clueless' and that word has been a bit of a buzz word on this forum in the same way 'deluded' has been. I wouldn't take it too literally, its more a reactionary comment in heated debate. I take issue with you on the Tonkin/Kinniburgh debate though. I was beginning to bore myself with the regularity I was defending Tonkin with so took a bit of a breather. I've backed him up relentlessly on a number of related threads and I'd guess I've argued every aspect of that one. That architecture debate was a classic and remains one of my favourites too. That descended into farce when a museum in Islington was being compared to a shopping centre in Salford !

Now here's a question (and it's not aimed at any particular poster on here, so let's not get that blood pressure too high. EDIT - Oops! Just realised it is).
Every now and then a poster will publish what is seemingly a very well-thought through, insightful comment about a player, manager or club. Interestingly, when a part of their post is challenged there is no response. A sort of "hit and run" commando raid.
Is it because they do not keep the forum "live" throughout the day? Or is it because their comment is a Googled piece of plagiarism from t'Internet? It happens all the time in schools and colleges, so why not on here?
I suggest the Administrator installs software that picks out uncharacteristic postings and automatically challenges them.
These uncharacteristic postings may be anything from Danny C that doesn't display a "Little Englander" paranoia, criticism of Baldy from Junior, any post from Baldy without a slightly aggressive edge, or any vaguely worthwhile post from Gav.
What do you think?
(Paul Cannell - I know you're going to find some obscure Internet reference to post - I just know it - but please make it a good one. Ta.)

I usually understand instantly what you are talking but I'm damned if I can't see your point here. And just for the record, I have the forum open all day while I'm at work and pride myself on replying to anyone who posts something in response to something I've posted. I expect you have evidence of this not being the case.

I'll sum it up for you Gav. I suspect some posters throw in paragraphs stolen from the Internet. They then can't argue the case because it wasn't their's to start with. I suggested software could be used to spot unexpected or unusual postings of all sorts. The last bit was a joke.

I think it's because it's not that easy to find threads you have posted on (seem to have to go to profile and hope i t was recent). I've posted extremely well-thought out, insightful comments and forgotten what threads they were in many times once or twice. Bit of a deficiency with this message board, IMO. (Paul Cannell - I know you're going to find some obscure Internet reference to post - I just know it - but please make it a good one. Ta.) I left danny c in charge of internet links after he complained that all I do is quote dictionary.com. I'm looking forward to fireworks if he and Ricky get their backside in gear

I think I've only posted links to boeing website that wasn't my own original work. Most of what I post isn't to be argued with, it is to be enjoyed or ridiculed, but I stand by it. Even managed to get you into one of my rhymes recently.

That descended into farce when a museum in Islington was being compared to a shopping centre in Salford ! Yes, it was complimentary. In a backhanded sort of way . I didn't take it too literally at all. As someone who has no bias towards any Premier League club, my point put forward some forward my opinion in why one player was better than another. If you say something as fact ie 'It's a fact that Steve Basham is the greatest defender of all time' you deserve to be shot down. What I stated was an opinion and whilst you're entitled to disagree, a few too many on this forum charge in with name calling and back-handed snidy comments (I'm looking at you, Junior). A few more 'In my opinon ..'s starting each sentence would actaully make debate, I feel. Not a ground rule as such, but may lessen the tension in here at times! You say you've argued every point re. Tonkin and Kinniburgh, but surely most of the Man U/Arsenal stuff has been gone over countless times. Sometimes that's football, but do we really need another thread on how good/bad/ugly Berbatov is? I've noticed how few threads ever talk about Chelsea on here as the debate is always Man United and Arsenal. Hypocritical I know, but let's bring back the architecture debate! It's a classic.
