Quite so iambungle there are many things wrong with our game.
However I think you will find many premiership fans do indeed have the Club before country attitude. It seems to be the lower league fans like ourselves who still get behind the national team (look at the flags at the next England game and see how many are from the premiership big boys).
Today really shook my interest in the national team. It suddenly seems all rather pointless.

So as a country we spent £463 MILLION POUNDS on our bid and received just TWO votes ?
Something is so very wrong.
I wonder where Jack Warner's votes went.

Is the 3rd of december 2010 the day international football finally died in this country? No, we have enough on our plate playing catch-up as far as producing players is concerned. Hosting the tournament isn't the be all and end all. I'd rather we win a world cup than host one. Clearly FIFA has an agenda to take the world cup to new countries, it doesn't seem fair but thats how it is, so we should be a bit more gracious in defeat

And one of those votes will have been from Geoff Thompson, so we only got one "real" vote

Yep. First the blacks, then the commies, then the bloody immigrants and now FIFA. All combining in a worldwide conspiracy to bring the UK down. I should get a flight out Danny. Once the bloody airports are open.

I don't get the voting. A few people voted for other countries in the second reound despite their first choice still being in. Why defect after the first round?

Why should we be gracious? Just seen a f**king thieving, corrupt bastard like Blatter rob us of 400 million quid by encouraging us to bid for a tournament he had already sold to Russia. All Blatter will achieve is to kill International football but at least he will make himself rich in the process.

The replies to this post highlight to me one of the reasons we didn't win it.
It must be a fix if the mighty England didn't win!
When the World Cup was first introduced England didn't enter because we were above such things and it was a competition for 'other' countries. When we finally entered we were embarrassed by how far behind we were, it took us years to get back up to speed and I feel the Premier League's success has returned this attitude to England and it will take us years to realise we don't deserve anything, we have to work at it.

Qatar need to build 9 out of 12 stadiums. They will play in tempretures of 40 degrees (unless they are all night games), they will have to build specific air conditoning units to all stadia using solar power before taking each stadium down, brick by brick, and relocating them to some of the worlds deprived areas.
So some lucky country like Chad for example will get a nice new stadium, likewise some place on Fiji.
Quite amazing that bids without any stadia, without any hotels, without any specific training camps, without proper infrastructure can manage to win.
Blatter is a disgrace. Two votes we got, two!

The boycotts of 78(Argentina) and 94(USA) actually bought the world cup closer to England though with the following ones in Spain(82) and France(98). The 1974 boycott was misjudged though.

Is the 3rd of december 2010 the day international football finally died in this country? Hope not as i am sure i will watch England when we next play but at the moment cant say i want anything to do with the cesspit of corruption that the world cup has become. Russia was a boot in the balls but to follow it up with Qatar was like doing it again with steel toe caps on. Not really. Today is the 2nd december

That is not relevant. I understand that we have no divine right to host it but the England bid not play on the home of football etc as they knew it was a turnoff. What annoys me is that if FIFA wanted the WC to go to new countries why not come out and say it rather than going down this path. Technically England was the best, would have brought in the most cash etc. What more do you need? FIFA and the process needs to change so we don't waste time and money when a decision was made months if not years ago to hold it somewhere new!
