Qatar rated 2 placed below Wales in Fifa rankings. Just think if the Welsh had enough oil money they to could host the world cup lol. This is just indicative of FIFA's desire for a world tour. 2026 will be in Antarctica, you mark my words.

Qatar that will interesting watching football played in average temperatures of 36 degrees! I'm surprised its only 36. I was thinking 40+ I can only think they are planning to have air conditioned stadiums or something As for our failed bid, IMO its fair enough that Russia won it as its a huge country that has never had it before - but coming below Holland/Belgium and Spain/Portugal is hard to take!

Just heard a Mr Thickie being interviewed about our failed bid. Apparently we lost out because of trouble at the Birmingham-Villa game last night. Course we did. There is no crowd trouble in Russia, it's a crime free paradise.

Russia - No infrastructure, No stadiums, Long distances, Lots of racism, Small crowds, Not enough hotel rooms for a Champions league final in their prmiary city. Should be a belter.
Qatar - 40 degree temperatures. Should be a great tournament. 10 stadiums within 40 miles of each other. Which will all be kncoked down after. Legacy?
Interesting that the two winning countries have lots of oil money and the most untraceable routes for money transfers.

I think that every football fan in this country should wear a black armband to games this weekend to mark the death of International football, December 2nd 2010.

I think it is a complete joke.
Russia is beyond corrupt, with a penchent for far right violance. 10 thousand miles between group games. A state influenced media.
Qatar has as much sporting pedigree as Milton Keynes and the Carbon Footprint is going to be huge.
How the feck can they justify these decisions. I am truly bitter.
If the BBC is the reason for us losing, we should be proud. Blame FIFA (a bunch of overweight middle aged men, no women) not the BBC. In effect we are being punished for not being corrupt.
Gutted!

The FA agreeing to play games in Trinidad / Thailand etc is a form of bribery though isn't it? At least now the FA will (hopefully) stop wasting money on "overseas development projects" and instead concentrate its resources on making the centre at Burton a success. At least then we may have a chance of producing a team capable of winning the thing.

Did you see Abramovic before the result was announced? He knew he'd already bought it and was having a good laugh..

At least then we may have a chance of producing a team capable of winning the thing. Unfortunately fixing the England team is not as simple as throwing some cash at a training center. We need to end the stupid greed in our game stemming from the premiership. We need the game to be run by one organisation and for it not to include the current fools. We need a new manager, better platers, etc etc. The list of our ills is long. The result of today's farce I think will only serve to speed up the dwindling interest in the international game in this country. Club before country is sadly already already prevalent for many football fans. I think this will only get worse. It is a rather glum outlook for anyone still left supporting the national team.

God only knows what Russia and Qatar (both oil rich countries) have been doing behind the scenes. Lets hope Panarama got that taped. It is club before country but I imagine it is the same in Russia, and in Qatar, well they probably all support Man City.

I have to deal with the Russians every day of the week. The country is corrupt to the core. I hope the Panorama team put the same effort into exposing the corruption of this vote. The Russian president didn't have to canvass votes, he already knew he had it in the bag, as money had already changed hands. Colleagues of mine that were out in Russia a few months ago were going to be taken to a football match. The bloke who looks after all the needs of our guys out there, (with connections everywhere), wouldn't take them to the match. He said he couldn't guarentee their safety. Why is a country like this being given a World event? Why is a country that is 80% in Asia 'bidding' in a European bid? Why didn't they bid against Quatar in the Asian bid for 2022? This makes me so angry, why don't we act the same way as the other bent FIFA representatives? Good old fashioned fairness gets you nowhere. Millions of tax payers money wasted on a bid that was never going to happen, well not whilst FIFA is being run by Sepp Blatter who is the biggest rotten apple in the barrel. As someone else in the thread said, lets put all the FA development money into our own training facilities at Burton. Let's have a team of English players to be proud of.

Is the 3rd of december 2010 the day international football finally died in this country? Hope not as i am sure i will watch England when we next play but at the moment cant say i want anything to do with the cesspit of corruption that the world cup has become. Russia was a boot in the balls but to follow it up with Qatar was like doing it again with steel toe caps on.

No it isn't the whole answer, but it's got to be better than the system we have now. I would suggest that it is still "Club & Country" for the vast majority of football fans in this country. Yes, football needs one voice and that voice must be the FA NOT the Premier League. And yes, the FA needs to be brought kicking and screaming into the 21st Century.
