Does anyone know why he left? Oh, it's fact now then is it? Apparently so, but we still not sure why yet?

Lorna Gosling left last season I think and went to Eastbourne Borough as commercial manager. Gosling left before 2008 as Barry Phillips became the club's commercial manager during the ill fated "Merry era" around summer 2008.

A disaster for OUFC if this is true. Disaster ? It's Chris Williams, not Chris Wilder. But both are important people,.Chris Williams is a HUGE loss to the business in my view. The place will be all the more poorer without him. 10 years a loyal servant and he suddenly departs - why ?

WHY indeed? More to this than meets the eye IMHO.
Chris will be sorely missed among us fans and I hope the rumours of unrest at the club are unfounded.
Good luck Mr Williams and the club wont' seem the same without you.

People leave jobs all the time and companies carry on so i am sure we will be fine, the programme editor leaving hardly justifies the panic some of you are in. Maybe he got a better job offer? Or something equally as mundane. For a site with no women on it this forum doesnt half come across as being full of a load of panicky, moaning old women some times.

Not just a programme editor - a damn fine one who has won awards.
He also wrote the web site stories and did a good job with the club's communications.
His sudden departure has left a sour taste. I don't like to see the club losing good, experienced capable people who happen to love their job and the club.
Let see what happens to the club's official communications from now on.

A great loss, and bad news for OUFC. Who else would take a phone call on matchday when Yellow Player isn't working, run up to BBC Oxford guys, and get it sorted within a couple of minutes? We'll all miss you Chris

Shouldn't we get this in some sort of perspective. We haven't lost a striker who scores 30 a season. We've lost someone who writes the programme notes, conducts the tours and fills in around the club. A valuable job I don't doubt but hardly irreplaceable.
Talk about mountains and mole hills. The fact that he's a local chap and fan of the club does not make him any more qualified for the post than the next man. It is, in effect, an admin job and I suspect we could fill it with another candidate just as good in no time at all.

Obviously it's annoying he's gone in such short notice as frankly he and the club deserve better, but 10 years at a job, in particular OUFC must have been stressful and seeing as he resigned a couple of years ago only to be talked out of it says he can't have been entirely happy. All the best to him.
The programme is a darned good read (even with the occasional spelling mistakes...!) and in some respects he leaves on a high.

I noticed a little while back that Chris Williams hadn't written some of the articles and thought it was a little bit strange.
I think he's a thoroughly nice guy and it would be good to know what has happened to make him leave. Maybe the time needed or his situation has changed? There's nothing to necessarily think there's something wrong at the club.

Didn't Chris have a few health problems of late? May be a reason?

He is a nice guy no doubt about that. Did he walk or was he pushed? Who knows. Any-one notice that this season in the program loads of gaffs have been in evidence. Surely he would'nt get the push for that though.

Understand Chris Wiliams has resigned hopefully untrue A disaster for OUFC if this is true. Its on the official site now, so it is true. Seems a bit strange, he really was a diamond at the club, turning his hand to all sorts. Said its for personal reasons.

Well according to Baldy these guys are 'ten a penny' and we won't have a problem finding a replacement for him which is such a glib comment.
I'm interested in the reasons why he has seemingly walked away from a job he used to love and from a club he thinks the world of.
Baldy no doubt thinks everything is just chipper and we'll be OK.
We'll just have to wait and see.

I suspect the difference between a family and community club, and a mega corporate club are a grey mush to you so thats not surprising. Underestimate the importance of staff like Chris and you are destined to run a poor ship.
