A disaster for OUFC if this is true. Disaster ? It's Chris Williams, not Chris Wilder. OK smartypants, what's YOUR definition of a disaster then? I suppose you're going to say a tsunami or earthquake? How would a tsunami in Asia upset Oxford's season?

The number of stories that have indicated that employees have "walked" out on the club is concerning. The club never had all this speculation when it was like a family back in the Manor days. Backroom staff worked without wages to keep the club going, not so sure that would happen now.

I have since found out that this is indeed true. Chris Williams resigned yesterday morning and a bloke called Ryan who worked with Chris in the media department followed suit in the afternoon.
Apparently that is four members of staff who have resigned since the season started. What's going on?

on official site now Staff Update Posted on: Wed 15 Dec 2010 It is with regret that the Club has accepted the resignation of our Communications Manager Chris Williams. Chris has been a valued employee of the Club for over 10 years, but has resigned for personal reasons. We would like to go on record and thank Chris for all he has done for the club. Chris is helping with the transition and we are lucky in that we have a group of people who already help out with the programme and communications and have stepped up, so we do not expect that any services will be disrupted until we find a replacement. Chairman Kelvin Thomas said "it is a shame that Chris decided to resign, but I fully understand the reasons and the Club will support him with his decisions and wish him well going forward. He is a very popular character around the club and will always be welcome. These things happen in business and I am pleased we now have a good management structure in place within the Club and can handle these things as they come up. We will be able to continue to operate without too much disruption in the short term, and we will work hard to get the right candidate in for the medium and long term." A further announcement will be made next week regarding the position and moving forward, but anyone who feels they may be qualified for the position of Communications Manager please forward your CV to gm@oufc.co.uk with a covering letter.

Sorry Chris has gone, my memory tells me that he nearly went somewhere a couple of seasons ago. Well next time I bump into him in Waitrose in Thame I'll try and get the low down. Pity, a real United man and a decent writer - job for him on the Oxford Mail perhaps?
