Yeah, it's next to the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. Yup, St Paul's Square. Expensive, but worth it. St Paul's Sq (for me) also has the best Chinese (Henry's) and Italian (Pasta di Piaza). For a cheaper curry in Brum, hard to beat the balti triangle (also some OK ones in Selly Oak)

Any in the Balti triangle that you would recommend? I have been to the Royal Naim but that has closed now. A friend has been to the Al Faisal and said that was good. Heard very good reports on the Jyoti in Hall Green and looking forward to trying out for myself.

Try Al Faisal. I've not made it to Jyoti, but very near it is the Lasan eatery - a 'budget' eat in / takeaway version of Lasan by the same owners, which isn't bad.

So back to the question in hand. Is the one up the stadium any good?

I doubt it going by the usual standard of Oxford's Indian restaurants. Although I haven't been there yet, has anyone else? It is a bit strange that Oxford with a reasonable size population of people from South Asia or of South Asian descent can't manage more authentic food in the restaurants.
Another I went to that was very good was the Mirch Masala in Norbury ( I hear it has branches in East London, Tooting and Southall) I was amazed to go past on it's opening night a couple of years ago and food was free all night.

Damn! From the title of this thread I thought we were opening a new ground with an Indian Restaurant inside. Disappointed on both counts

Interested to see Hansa's in Leeds mentioned - due to an administrative error or something, I lived in Leeds for a while in the late 80s and it was excellent - haven't been back since, if I ever do I will check it out again.

I've been to Aziz which I'll never go back to - good food but waiters' attitude stinks. We got in there an hour before closing for lunch and that was the first thing they said to us. Service was slow as well. The Bombay up Walton Street is good though, bring your own beer too - going back in the next couple of weeks hopefully for another night out.

The Bombay is great!
First Floor down Cowler Rd is also good, 4500 miles from Delhi is CRAP!

I was talking to an Indian girl in Oxford yesterday and she said that apart from Ruchi's the only other one she rates is 4,500 miles from Delhi in Park end street, she said although it's quite expensive, it's quality. Come to think of it, Ruchi's and 4,500 miles from Delhi are the only two Indian restaurants in Oxford that I have actually seen Indian people eating in.

Apparently the Indian at the ground is quite expensive - £9 for a standard curry with rice not included.
