I thought was really good (for a home game). Not from a classic, singing-loudly-throughout perspective, but more from generally getting behind the team and willing them forward. This was, I think, instigated by the players performance but it's a step in the right direction. The Oxford Mail was good today, "Give us an O" was particularly impressive. I've put some fan videos up on the latest blog update: bit.ly/en738I

It was the first time I have ever known the team to be warmly applauded off at half time whilst losing.

All we could hear on the left side was a load of incoherent mumbling about "the best trip I've ever been on".
I went on a great trip to Wembley a few months back.

Why the hell are you lot ""battling" against each other, perhaps if we concentrated in getting a chant going in time with each other and support the TEAM that would help?

As far as I see it, it's just a bit of banter, a bit like the left side/right side song. When this song was first sung, the place was dead, and the song worked, got a fair few on the right side singing and woke those on the left side up. What song do you purpose to sing?

I just felt the song didn't really support the players, a bit like "we are the right side" The "dont wanna go home" song where it included Bradford and Oxford was good

Most of the songs sung at football arn't supportive. Don't suppose the players care if the fans hate Swindon. Nor do I think they care some people find singing Aldershit really witty, wouldn't class that as being supportive myself.

Singing f**king useless, Is that all you take away, We forgot that you were here (The most participated in songs) are supporting the team are they? The dont sloop john b song, was is response to the frustration at only 3 guys keeping to their word of moving to the far right, and also the appauling atmosphere that was present in the first 5 minutes, IMO, if the 20 or so of us on the right hadn't provoked the other singers, the atmosphere would have been as dead as usual.

Don't flatter yourself. The "provocation" didn't get anyone singing, especially on the left side. The way the team performed helped make the atmosphere what it was. Various pockets of positive singing may have helped, but no one group was responsible for it.

Buzzlightyear, how do these people think of their user names?, feels aggreived that certain sections of east stand crowd where being allienated by the singing today. Mick Brown will be setting up a counselling group for fans traumatised as a result of the left side/ right side taunting You should have been there in the early 80s, if you didn't like what other fans did or said you had a choice, say something to them, or forget about it. There's too much of this "I don't like it, so I'm going to rush home after the match and get on the lap top now 'IMO'.
I didn't go today but folowed the match on the radio, at one-nil down I was not worried we now have a team who will not lie down and die after conceding. You'll never know how proud I felt of the fans today when Jerome said "We're one nil down and we're getting a standing ovation" at half time! I love this club!

It was the first time I have ever known the team to be warmly applauded off at half time whilst losing. That is indicative of the good performance as opposed to some of the hoof ball in previous home matches. It shows if the team are attempting to play well and giving 100% then the fans will back them, even if losing.

A view from a neutral fan (in terms of right or left) sat in the SSU yesterday.
Left side / right chants are fine as they're interactive, and it sounds like two parts of the same choir singing one continuous song.
Left side / right side singing different songs is POINTLESS. It dilutes the atmosphere, sounds incoherent and the words of one are inevitably drowned out anyway.

As pointed out plenty of songs at football matches don't actually have words that support the team directly... but the noise from singing (including any anti-Swindon ones) improves the atmosphere and that is what helps the team and players.
