who would agree with everyone on BBC Oxford Texts saying we should pay whatever the price for Macca, or should we find someone affordable or should we bust open the bank?

we shouldnt bust the bank for ANY player!
KT has got us where we are today (financially) with a strict wage budget. Allowing to go over could damage the club.

This argument is pointless as we have laid our cards on the table with a bid that has been accepted. The question is not whether to break the bank but whether he will choose to come.

Peter Risdale recommends we get him.

MacLean said on Radio Oxford that he was happy with Oxford's offer and it wasn't about money just that he had "one or two things to sort out with Plymouth". Don't think there is anymore we can do, "pushing the boat out" or otherwise.

Don't think there is anymore we can do, "pushing the boat out" or otherwise. Also mentioned talking to his agent though. If he was that happy with the offer he'd have signed up already/ I think he's just seeing whats available to him. Can't blame the lad. He's a talent that shouldn't be in league 2 really. I just hope that Wilder can persuade him to give us till the end of the season. Finish what he has started. He's good enough to move on after that if we fall short.

It would be utter madness to break the bank purely to sign MacLean. As much as I think he is a great player and one who i would love to see sign, our improved but still poor financial situation coupled with global conditions for football finance in general, mitigate against a huge outlay for the purposes of getting one player. At the moment the loan deal sounds like the perfect plan. If MacLean doesn't take that, then there are other players to whom we can turn our attention. I very much doubt that Wilder doesn't have other targets lined up if the deal for SM falls through.

We aint and are not going to break the bank trying to keep him. We already have the agreement with Plymouth. It's Maclean who, at the moment, don't seem keen. And thats nothing to do with our offer, as he'll get paid the same amount no matter what. As Plymouth still pay his wages.
I just think he wants to go back home to Scotland tbh

From what I understand thats all been cleared up now though. Hes not been playing here for free for the last few months.

They then keep it, it seems

I'd certainly want to clear that up before agreeing any loan move (that would mean Plymouth would be the club to "pay" me)

The PFA must have then, as if he hadn't been paid since then, he & the other players could walk out of the club for nothing. From what I understand thats all been cleared up now though. Don't mind if he stays or goes, he's just a slightly better version of Midson. If they both stay I dont think they can both start together, in the last two games we have looked much more dangerous with Beano up front. I thought it was harsh to bring Jack off yesterday as he was having a better game than Maclean.

I thought it was harsh to bring Jack off yesterday as he was having a better game than Maclean. Slightly? Really? Midson wasn't having a great game yesterday for me, he should have scored at least once. Maclean, however, was absolutely vital in his turns and little bits of link up play, clever passes and following up on shots, which eventually earned him our opener.

We'll keep him till the end of the season on loan and see what we can offer him in the summer. (There's an outside chance of promotion so he would get a better deal if we're in Lg 1)
