Sixfields Tavern is home fans only = we normally have to drink in TGIs or that bowling place IIRC

Northampton is pretty poor for pubs around the ground. It's like our ground minus the Priory.

We went into the Sixfields Tavern last time we played at Northampton, 2 of us went in around 4.00pm (it was a 7.45pm kick off) and we were unpleasantly told to leave. the barman was a Scumdon fan and found it quite amusing, we the went acroos to the other pub to find out that the majority of the yellows were in there..

Well in that case, if he's still the landlord, he might find his windows put through if he is similarly impolite this time.

Northampton isn't great for the 'Real Ale' scene..However, Malt Shovel (opposite Carlsberg Brewery) 7-10 min walk from train station is fantastic for array of ales n ciders. Gt Oakley (Northants) locals range plus at least eight guests..and Cheddar Valley Cider. Good food too! Walking back towards train station..buses (to Daventry) go all the way up to Sixfields..or every few minutes to within a 10 min walk. Pubs along Weedon Rd aren't great tbh..Sixfields complex is shite..Bowlplex (or whatever!) will allow away fans in..as well Old Orleans..for those who only want lager! Wig & Pen (next to Town Hall) also really good for ales..about six guests usually on! Hope that helps!

I remember it happening in Northampton town centre a few years ago, when a coachload of us were on the way back from our match at Leicester.

We can all go into history of meets (which I don't want to go on about here)..Speaking of Leicester..thought they could be cocky in home areas..got a shooing out..just ask Kasabian. Also came pretty unstuck in Old Orleans later.

Another problem is that getting to Northampton is easy by car but a nightmare by train, so most Oxford fans tend to miss the city centre and end up in these terrible bowlplex, frankie and benny's, TGIF type places. Alright with your family beofre or after cinema but no good near a football stadium.

The Melbourne Arms (smallish pub), Melbourne Lane, NN5 6HS or The Squirrels Inn (slightly larger pub), Main Road, NN5 6JF both in Duston. We generally park at the Melbourne and walk down the lane (after a few beers!) into Hall Close then down Millway to the Sixfields roundabout. It's normally quiet in Duston, away from any OTT policing and idiot doormen......or you can chance your luck at the Sixfields Tavern!
