^^^^^ excuse the Beav love in but I agree with all of the above let's do it right. Sat was a rush but this could be our own Bridle Bonanza of sorts.

It could be called Ultimate Support Saturday 2, where people are encouraged to bring flags, balloons, scarfs etc

Sorry John But we didnt distance our selfs from it did we? We pulled off a huge display for it. Anyway, no grudges held, Maybe saturday was a little to rushed, it can be tried again though. Carefreeoufc's plan sounds like a good'un. Some of you did, on another forum, and to me as well. From what i gathered, you (as in the Ultras) were only happy to do their own thing, and didnt want to be associated with what i was doing. With all the effort i put into that day, and it was a lot, i was impressed with the effort the Ultras put into the display. As ive said before, im a big supporter of the Ultras and feel you shuld get more credit than you have got for the things you have done. Certainly no grudges held It had good intentions, but it was gone about in the wrong way imo, posting it on the Aldershot forum, for me was where I lost intrest in it. You can't fault your efforts for it though, and that's something I respect. However, we'd gone about it in a different way. Maybe we could have helped more. Maybe others could help us more. I think you now realise how much work has to be put in to sort something as simple as 'ultimate support'.

I agree about posting on the Aldershot forum, but at the time, i was hoping it would drum up extra interest in the game, as i was getting no where on my own. I probably wouldnt do that again, but wasnt having much luck with no support. I would have gone about it in a different way if i wasnt on my own doing it. I made mistakes, but when i got to the priory, i heard of people bringing extra friends, and people changing their tickets from North and South stand to the Oxford Mail stand because of what i had done. So i felt something had been achieved. The ironic thing was that i did it to help your lot out, but it backfired a bit. It wasnt the success id hoped for, as the local media didnt pick up on it till a couple of days before. But it did show that there is potential for this kind of thing to work. If the Ultras get involved more this time, and people support you lads, then it could be something decent. Id be willing to do the same again.

So i have some ideas for Ultimate Support Saturday 2. Feel free to shoot me down if you disagree.
We can either go for Hereford at home on 26th February, or Crewe at home on Saturday 19th March? (a possible bigger away following, especially if they are still doing well)
We involve the club like last time, but this time, they promote it a little earlier to help boost the crowd, and to spread the word.
Last time, it was friends and family day and wear your colours day. Maybe this time it could be bring a mate day, where everyone is encouraged to bring either a casual supporter who doesnt attend to often, or someone new. Not only will this increase support on the day, it will bring in extra revenue for the club.
Again contact the local media, Oxford Mail, Jack Fm, Radio Oxford to help promote the day.
All of this will help spread the word that a new singing section is being set up for this game, to see if we can come up with a long term way of improving the atmosphere.
I can contact Bridle, and see if they are willing to help in any way.
Thoughts?

Hi john,
I was also reconsidering Hereford as I too think a larger away following would help.
I'm slightly concerned that we are losing sight of the fact that this should be about getting as many people as possible who want to sing in one area of the ground, not about boosting the crowd or bringing more casual fans along.
However, it does seem sensible to use the tagline of Ultimate Support Saturday as that already has publicity, but we need to keep the original goal in sight.

I don't think much more needs to be done than organise a meeting point before the game, some of us get to know each before hand, there will probably be some familiar faces. Then get together in the ground. I think if you go to much down the Press and corporate sponsorship involvement route, you could end up with it being to plasticy, if that makes any sense?

If we do it ANY OTHER day than this.
Saturday 9th - Wycombe. Good away following - boosted by positions at the time (I think we'll both be in similar places)
Hereford could be fine - Wycombe could be a massive crowd so trying it then, have it said singers should relocate to the top right hand corner and stuff.
Could get maybe 100+ singers all in one section!!

Fair point Wispa. Maybe try to involve Bridle to help with a display, and to help with a bit of promotion, and get the club involved, but leave it at that? If its built up as bring a mate day, it will help get people involved, and will give the club something to go on?

I apperciate they've done many things for the club, but the second they or any company helps fund a display, the group will distance themselves from that as much as possible.

surely another ultimate support saturday will just end up being a one off again. defeating the whole point of the original goal of this topic - to create a new group to boost atmosphere.
again getting Bridle involved - almost accepts defeat and will be more of a one off and defeats the points of the Ultras.
Personally I think the whole right side thing should be tried again, but with something more concrete set up.

I agree, I think for the moment getting a group of people together to sing as a group is the first sort of priority.
We had an increased number for the Bridle Bonanza etc but the atmosphere wasnt really any better.
So I knocked up a little flyer while the missus was watch Eastenders but dont know how to show it unfortunately.

The idea of bringing a mate day, and to try and get casuals along for this game, is as much about helping increase the atmosphere than anything else. Thats just what i think though, and even though i was behind the original Ultimate Support Saturday, this isnt up to me, and is just ideas that i think could help.

Agreed, bringing family members along or mates, won't do anything apart from add a few numbers to the gate. The lads you want are the ones that go to alot of home games that can help push things forward.

I dunno about getting Bridle ivolved with the display, it kinda goes agaisnt the ethos of being ultra to get the club sponsors involved. I whole heartedly support Bridle and think they do a great job for club. But One of our main beleifs is that modern football has been ruined by corporate involvment, so we try to do things on of our own or other fans kind donations. As ever we will back an attempt to improve the atmosphere.

As Saturday showed, even though people have good intentions, it doesnt always happen. If this works, then it will mean it will continue, which is the point of all this
