surely another ultimate support saturday will just end up being a one off again. defeating the whole point of the original goal of this topic - to create a new group to boost atmosphere. again getting Bridle involved - almost accepts defeat and will be more of a one off and defeats the points of the Ultras. Personally I think the whole right side thing should be tried again, but with something more concrete set up. Yes, its a one off, but its about starting something. As Saturday showed, even though people have good intentions, it doesnt always happen. If this works, then it will mean it will continue, which is the point of all this but the previous one didn't go to well and even a big crowd funded by Bridle didn't produce noise. to get a good atmosphere - there needs to be one area where a large number of people sing.

I have a season ticket very near the said section along wth my 6 year old who loves all the singing so she and I (and the other 6 or so that sit with us) would all join in. To stop any chance of pissing people off how about making up some flyers and putting them on each seat in the area explainng what is planned so those that wish to sit or do not want join in have time to move there seats for that game or buy one for another area f they are not ST holders but normaly buy a ticket to sit there. The flyers just need to be a bit of A4 paper with the writing on it nothing flash required. Also if it worked out and became a regular thing then how about gettng a kitty going for the flags and banners.
Same as everything though people (myself included) think things are a good idea but when it comes to put the effort in to do something about it people cant be bothered or dont have the time.
There must be a graphic desgner on here who could design things, a printer who could help, a seamstress ( i need a banner making if anybody can help) wthn our support, we need a lot of people to do a little bit each rather than a few people to do everything.
I have a lot on my plate with a full time job,3 kids,a wife, and trying to sort out the trips to the England games, but if people need anything will offer my self up to help.
Sorry if this reads funny just realised that the "I" on this laptop is a bit dodgy.

Dont know if this has worked, hopefully it has. Anyway like I said I was bored and dont claim to be any artist but if a flyer was being used to say what we were doing or to know who was involved then as Blue Peter would say is one i did earlier. [/img] Attachments:

That looks quality CarefreeOUFC and is certainly a good starting point.
But before things get too advacned I do feel we should reconsider the Hereford match as our target game. I know we're all excited now and want this to happen sooner rather than later, but picking our moment could be important.
A game with a big away following will help to turn this from a one off to a more long term thing, as the atmosphere cannot really improve without the response from an away crowd.

[/img]
Love it mate - except the bottom 3 WHO, WHERE and WHEN bit. Pragmatically they'll know who and where - that won't be important. Especially if we're handing them out at the Kassam. Maybe details about singing section? Bringing a mate? I'd leave the WHEN bit though. Apart from that - Great effort.

Cheers mate yeah I did think that.
Until we have a definate game etc I have saved it so all the text etc can be edited/deleted. Like I said a quick half an hour knock up.
Saving printing costs it could be in black and white etc but I agree with the singing section details.

Right. I know the singing situation has been discussed, but talking with an Ultra and sitting to the left (middle) there is a section of singers just to the right at the top (next and incl the Ultras)
Surely, if you wanna sing everyone should just bundle themselves up there. Noone sits down so standing space should be fine.
All those on the outer sections could be included. Basically problem solved.
Just others need to be less reluctant to move.

I've got a few points to make. Good work everyone trying to make a go of this.
Firstly, I think just bundling in centre right probably wouldn't work becasue there is not enough space what with ST holders etc....not if we want to attract serious numbers.
Secondly, I think setting a game is a great idea. What it needs though, is firm commitment from a number of people that they will go to a certain area. We need a certain amount of people, all of whom have firmly agreed in advance.
Half-promises, and a 'see how we feel nearer the time' attitude won't work, because if people get there and everyone is thinking like that, they will just cop out and go back to their usual areas. It will only work if there are enough people keeping to their word, for everyone to feel comfortable about it and up for it.

While I support most of all of the above (I've been away and found it too much to read it all to find the nuggets of sense), I personally think the "singing section" problematic. It works at away games as there are "only" 500-2000 people and we are all herded in to one stand and most have no historical preference.
At home a singing section has the effect of producing a good sound from one area and the rest of the stadium quiet. That makes it feel like an away match with all your fans in one area.
The problem is (and I think everyone who's tried has found this) there is no quick fix. The only answer is to take your normal seat, STAND, sing your heart out even if you're on your own, ignore the tuts and moans (esp of the people sat behind you) and eventually people will get the idea. We need a stadium of support, not a section of support. If not we could end up with an (sorry Junior) Old Trafford where all but a few sit respectfully and watch the football.
Re a much earlier post:
Sammy's song: How about (to the tune of You're not very good)
You're not very tall You're not very tall You're not very, you're not very, you're not very tall SAM
I'll get my coat

Why not!....give it a go.
I think we have many people who are a credit to this club and it really helps, but if you are looking for an electric home atmosphere it's down to the mindset of the average supporter. No disrespect to Hereford intended (and I'm loving league 2) but (and its been said before), until we see a few thousand away fans in the North Stand and there is a real edge to the game like Luton last season, it will all seem a bit muted for periods of the game. The supporters have high expectations - and until we are welcoming Swindon, Reading and co we will never quite reach the heights we are looking for.

How about Rotherham at home in 3 and a half weeks? Not sure of their away following, but they are doing well, and will be a big game. Which would be a good starting point. It gives us all 3 and a half weeks from now. What do people think?

Yeah Rotherham wouldn't be a bad shout would probably bring more than Hereford. If/when we keep this momentum up then Rotherham could be a goodun.
I'm game whenever but think we need 3 weeks minimum to make it effective and not another mix up. If we plan well and it goes well then we are in for a good thing.
I like to think of this as a Mexican wave. They all start with a small group of people and get bigger as more people stand up to join in after a while the ones that aren't singing feel left out and join in. I'm not saying a Mexican wave is required as they are a bit pony but just like the field of dreams,
"build it (the atmosphere) and they will come. I have faith that mingling spreading the word on singing to the average fan and being as loud as possible will draw people in

The flyer above looks quality, that's why you do it as a job I suppose. One suggestion though change "here" to "hear" ;-)

What else needs to be on the poster? This has to be the start of something, and has to be clear whats Ultimate Support Saturday 2 is about, and what people need to do if they want to get involved

Put some more details on here and I'll add them, I think you want to keep it short and snappy though.
