You'd think Bradford would bring at least 1,500 to Oxford - after all it's only them in this league who get bigger crowds than us. I reckon wetween 600-900. They took 1449 to Shrewsbury (2/3 of the distance to Oxford) for their first away game. I cant see any away figures mentioned for other games but their opponents crowds do not seemed to have been swelled by their massive support.

If we beat Aldershot, we'll all be upbeat again, i think we'll get good home turn out. Think Bradford will bring 600-800. and That will then make us sing more. As long as players play there part, i think atmosphere will be alright...

I appreciate creating an atmosphere/singing/enjoying yourself is not to everyone's taste but it's one of the reasons that got me hooked on this bloody club. Really? When was the atmosphere at the Manor or the Kassam ever that good? Bradford will bring 3,500 to us, about a third of their home average. We took 2,300 to Wycombe which is about a third of our home gate, so it makes sense.

The atmosphere at Torquay was pretty darn good. Much like what you say about the saints fans. ^^ Alot of songs being started off for different players, Jake right, Clist, Midson, Alfie, Worley... But at home I do think we need to try a move. I would be willing to give the Top right a go if enough other people were. I didn't go to Torquay, so were there any new songs? I havn't heard one for Worley before. I did laugh when we were 3,1 up and we started singing (you should see our first team) brilliant ;D ;D

I think you're being a little modest YH. When was it ever this bad? I think he was laying a trap! Actually (on this occasion!) that was genuine surprise at YY's recollections of good atmospheres in the past. I suppose as a young lad at the Manor the noise and general mayhem at some matches were quite overwhelming, but I honestly don't think we've ever been "first division" for atmosphere creation. If anything, we've been far too quiet at home for much of the 40 years I've watched Oxford. Certain away games, on the other hand, have been much more enjoyable!

We may not have had atmospheres as quite as comparable to places like the Kop but I don't think anyone is making such a claim.
Regardless of the result, the atmosphere against Southend was very poor, especially as the attendance was over 7,000.
I do think the current match atmosphere has taken a serious dip and I believe many of us would like to turn this around.

I don't think anyone would disagree with you about wanting to improve the atmosphere, I just wanted to give a bit of perspective. I remember at home to Crawley in the BSP we had a great atmosphere going with the left side / right side song, despite it being a "nothing" match. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it, and we don't have a history of vocal excellence. That said, more power to anyone trying to get a buzz going.

My usual line when the subject of atmosphere arises : Oxford in North stand , Away fans in East Stand. Simples. Apart from Boston (which was imposed on them) has any other club given the away supporters the biggest stand at the ground. Not to mention the wind that blows in from that direction.

Agree totally with that fishpaste.
Stick the away fans in the right side OM inbetween left siders and the north stand and the atmoshere in the ground will be good more often than not.

Like the idea of away fans in Oxford mail right side that would get things going without a doubt. People couldn't not sing etc if the away fans were looking right at you singing loud.
