Anyone else interested in sorting out the shocking atmosphere for the Bradford Match?
On another thread I made the suggestion of all supporters interested in organising/joining a new singing section could re-locate to the top right corner of the East Stand for a one-off.
There are only a handful of st holders in this area (check the on-line booking thing) so there are plenty of spaces for singers to stand together.
Most people are not familiar with this part of the stand so it will feel like being at an away match and we always create a better atmosphere at away games.
As this area is more enclosed than the centre of the east stand, the sound/noise projecton should be far greater if not deafening.
Although it's difficult to get people motivated to make an effort/commitment with such a significant lifestyle change, the Northstanders have proved people will move away from the brain dead traditional areas in order to create an atmosphere.
I appreciate creating an atmosphere/singing/enjoying yourself is not to everyone's taste but it's one of the reasons that got me hooked on this bloody club.

Think its a good idea and certainly worth a go. Could start getting the away atmosheres going by congregating together.
SSY - wrong section.

SSY - you can pipe down! All you do is sit in the South Stand upper with a thermos so it's not even relevant to you! We need bolshy because the atmosphere is pathetic and people need a shot up their backsides.

I went to Dagenham against Saints yesterday as couldn't go to Plainmoor and wanted to watch some footy. Sat with the Saints fans and they showed us up completely. A vast array of imaginative songs for pretty much every player on the pitch and never stopped singing.

A vast array of imaginative songs for pretty much every player on the pitch and never stopped singing. The choice and variety of songs is just as important as where people sit. If we want real noise then some imagination needs to be shown so that more people join in more often.

The atmosphere at Torquay was pretty darn good. Much like what you say about the saints fans. ^^ Alot of songs being started off for different players, Jake right, Clist, Midson, Alfie, Worley...
But at home I do think we need to try a move. I would be willing to give the Top right a go if enough other people were.

I havn't heard one for Worley before.

To be fair, the atmosphere at Torquay yesterday was the best I have been in for a long time. The variety of songs was fantastic with several new ones, and some olds one being sung too (included a couple I'd never actually heard before). There were songs for Alfie, Wright, MacLean, Worley, Midson, Green, Clist and Craddock. Everyone was joining with the singing which was good (until Torquay equalized) and everyone joined in with the bouncing too Just need to replicate this at home now. There would be 8-10 of us willing to move if a singing section was sorted on the far right side.

You'd think Bradford would bring at least 1,500 to Oxford - after all it's only them in this league who get bigger crowds than us.

They dont travel too well either,Bradford fans that is.

Posted this on another thread, though its relevant on this one too ! ;-
hmmmmmm- heres a few thoughts on the subject
theres a campaign for safe standing at the kas stad just getting off the ground, ... an ideal area for singing, if of course the campaign is (which it should be) successful
a number of avid London roaders from the manor days are now in areas of the kas stad other than the East Stand-including SSU and SSL ( family area), if each pocket joined in ( as DID happen often at The Manor btw) with some songs & chants, voila instant atmosphere increase, as this should in theory, give shyer potential singers the oppertunity to join in with others in close proximity to them.
Variety of songs/chants has got staler than last weeks left over turkey, again, back to the manor days, new songs were often introduced and instigated by handing out 'lyric' sheets- although at the Manor the sheets were handed out as the faithful arrived through the london road turnstiles, at the kas stad a wider distribution will be needed ( Priory pre match, quadrangle pre match, outside/inside all 'home' turnstiles.

Can anyone post the words to the songs sung at Torquay here? It would be great if everyone on this forum had a head-start and could join in and help popularise (or whatever the word is) the songs. The drunken tones of a lot of Oxford supporters can a bit difficult to understand sometimes...

"Super Steve MacLean, Steve MacLean, Super Steve MacLean! Lalalalalalalalalalala" (Baby give it up, give it up Song www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Yxh7HxvEnE ) "Super, Super Tom, Super Super Tom, Super Super Tom, Super Tommy Craddock" (The Old Duffy One) "Dudududu Harry Worley" (Pigbag Tune, the old Andy Burgess Song, and F*cking Useless Chant) "Hark now Hear, the Oxford Sing The Swindon ran away But we will fight for ever more Because of Derby day " (I think...) Sounded quality when everyone was singing "We All hate Swindon, We all Hate Swindon" to the Tom Hark tune too
