Tbh i do think it is only the last play off spot up for grabs. The top 6 as it is i think will pull away a bit. Then it's just whoever has the best 2nd half of the season to grab that last spot. I personally do not think we're good enough to get there. I'd take a top half finish. Then push on for a play off spot next season.

I'm just pleased that we're competing at this level.
Thats not to say I've thrown the towel in on this season, but just to acknowledge where we are now to where we were 12 months ago.
4pts off a play-off spot HAS to be considered a good start to life back in the league.
But, we're not the finished article yet and whilst we're possibly capable of sneaking a spot I'd rather we consolidated this season and challenged next if it meant us avoiding a premature promotion and swift relegation.

If we sort the defence out i think we have a decent chance. The striking options are good and the midfield issues may well have been sorted by the arrival of McLaren.
Saying that, before the season started i said I'd be happy if we finished one place above relegation. It was survival that i was, and still am, really after. There should not really be much pressure for us to do staggeringly well in a first season in a new league to which we are still adapting.
If we were not successful next term then I might be more bothered but if the season ended tomorrow i would be pretty chuffed with our performance.

I'd wait until the end of the month, and see where we are after the next four pretty tough fixtures. It would be silly and negative to write off our chances when there's still a load to play for, equally we cannot settle into mid-table obscurity. I really hope the team now pushes on -bouyed by the result at Torquay, and i feel we can take maximum points at Aldershot that will hopefully propel us into the meeting with Bradford at home- and a chance to avenge the rout at their place.

The encouraging thing is that I personally haven't seen a particularly good performance all season, and I've been to most games.
We are near the playoffs and look rubbish!

definitley not
our goal is to stay in this division, and performances such as v Southend show that it isn't going to be easy!

We have lost six games at home, so far, to my mind that is not play off form!

Stand by what I said at the beginning of the season, we will finish as a strong midtable side - 11th or 12th.

With our strikers/midfield perhaps this season but with another year behind them we could be a very good team that will take some teams to the cleaners so that good positive thinking goodnite.

If Payne was as good as he can be every other game, we'd win every other game. Heslop always strikes me as the kind of player that should be really consistent as well, and when he goes missing so does a large part of our team. His stamina and inconsistency really hold him back, he should be playing at a higher level than this.

I think we're in a decent position and if we hit form at the right time we just might get lucky. But more important is that we're set up well for next season, when we should definitely be challenging for promotion.
