No idea what Wycombe's finances are like, but we need every penny.
I don't believe that offering all those incentives at Oxford would influence the number of sales very much, if at all. Bearing that in mind I wouldn't be in favour of introducing them.
It would just be depriving the club of additional income.

Following their relegation Wycombe have had to spice up their season ticket package considerably I would have thought.
And yes they do have sizeable debts to service.

WWFC Bring three guests to Adams Park for FREE throughout the season OUFC does offer ST benefits throughout the year normally doesnt it? Like bring someone for half price? WWFC Refer a friend and receive a home shirt signed by your chosen player Cant really afford that. WWFC 10% discount on all club merchandise We do that WWFC 0 % flexible payment options over five months Its not like ours is that much anyway... WWFC Huge savings on comparative match tickets They need everyone they can get WWFC Discounts on all match day hospitality OUFC provides ST holder discounts on exec boxes WWFC Invitations to exclusive events throughout the season which involve the players and management staff We could do this I suppose.. WWFC Priority tickets for all home, cup and play-off games We do this WWFC FREE entry to all home reserve matches We didnt have reserves until this year WWFC FREE club season ticket gift wallet complete with credit card fixture list I always think things like that are useless ad the fixtures are always changing. I would say we are a club with a little more ambition than Wycombe. They need all the people they can get whereas as we get on just fine at the moment with what we have got. We could do with the money but I think they can do without as league one was the ultimate achievement for some of them - so they dont need to funds to fund a rise through the system. When we get to league one I will be pleased but I won't feel we have reached our peak, I would say Oxford as a club/city should be on the premiership/championship border and I would love to see that within 15 years. Im sure that we give ourselves a better chance of that by not throwing money away like WWFC seem to do. Also, Im not sure how many extra ST holders we'd recieve through something like that - all the people that have ST are happy with what they have. Also - there are discounts at outlets in Oxfordshire for Oxford fans if you extend your 'affiliation' to the club to an official membership. Granted, it is £30 a year, but you could save that in a single group trip to pizza hut with the 25% off offer.

If it means the friend referrred to is buying a ST (for the first time), then it more than pays for itself to give a shirt away for free. No, we do a one off only 10% purchase with a voucher. No, ours is not 0% So now we have a reserve team are we giving free entry to ST holders? The club do give out free fixture cards, even if a ferw do change later in the season. Personally, our membership scheme has no interest to me for £30.

This is slightly off topic but what the club should do is to give an ongoing discount to people who bought season tickets whilst we were in the wilderness so as we go up through the leagues they acknowledge the people who remained faithful and make their renewals cheaper than the glory supporters who are only getting tickets now we are back in the League!!!

Our cheapest adult season ticket is £295 in the Oxford Mail stand (I see that the club still calls it the Oxford Mail stand on the application form - perhaps they are sponsoring it again?) and compares quite well with other teams in League 2.
The Wycombe season tickets are £330 unless you want to go in the family stand, or are £280 for the terrace.
I did start to try and do an analysis across the league of the prices, but got so confused with various early payment options, different stands and different age groups that I gave up. Some clubs have lower prices for over 60s, with us it is over 65. Also for under 21s, under 19s, under 18s, under 17s etc. For us the age limit is U16, with another drop for under 11s. Aldershot give discounts to the military. Some include free parking, free child season tickets like us, free entry to first round of Carling cup games etc.
I like the idea of three adult tickets though, could encourage repeat visits.

Wycombe offer all that and they STILL can't sell their tickets! Perhaps they should just give them away!

Numbers revealed
Posted on: Wed 24 Feb 2010
Bury played Shrewsbury Town on Friday 19 February and the club sent out a general invitation to season ticket holders from other clubs for the game.
Supporters were asked to show their home season ticket and gain access for just £5.00.Bury won the game 1-0 in what turned out to be an absolute cracker of a game.
The number of supporters from other clubs was recorded on the night and we can now reveal the numbers of those that did come to watch the game, as follows:
82 Manchester City fans 76 Manchester United Fans 59 Bolton Wanderers Fans 48 Burnley Fans 36 Blackburn Rovers Fans 29 Accrington Stanley Fans 21 Oldham Athletic Fans 18 Rochdale Fans 15 Preston North End Fans 14 Huddersfield Town Fans 12 Mansfield Town Fans 8 Sunderland Fans 2 Coventry City Fans 2 Everton Fans 2 West Bromwich Albion Fans 2 Liverpool Fans 2 Arsenal Fans 1 Sheffield Wednesday Fans 1 Leeds United Fans 1 Birmingham City Fans 1 Wolverhampton Wanderers Fans 1 Wigan Athletic Fan 1 Doncaster Rovers Fan 1 Borrussia Dortmund Fan ------------ An interesting idea which probably worked better for a Northern team. Other ideas were Mansfield's "pay what you like" game, and I seem to remember that Altrincham used to have a discount for other club season ticket holders.

The reality is that those three tickets ay well be used for mates who attend anyway but dont ahve an ST. In which case for us... 3,800 x 3 = 11,400 tickets. Potentially giving away £120,000 in revenue. Not so pretty when you look at it liike that.

I know quite a few people who got dragged along once, loved it, then want to come again and again. So i believe something like this would benefit us as a club. And its about other ideas to

Let’s be honest you have to market what product you have and I believe our product is a hell of lot better than theirs. So no I don’t feel as though we have to do more.

As we have a product that is better than many other teams, surely we should be trying to maximise the chances of more people coming to watch Oxford United, not just sitting back and accepting we have enough fans who are willing to put money into the club

1/ I don't give a toss what Wycombe do 2/ Our ST sales are good, and we are not a club in decline 3/ What about those fans (like me) who can't make it to enough games to have an ST? I've never had so much as a free pie from memory - ST holders already get a pretty good discount, and I'm paying around 50% more per match, do they actually need even more? 4/ I hate lists.
