Thought would bring over my old "Films" thread from the TIU forum. Give opinions, ratings on new films you have seen, what your favourites are, etc.
Saw Toy Story 3D yesterday. Best animated film by far, great fun and good laugh. For its genre would give it 9/10

I watched Inception on Friday. The film's awesome, fully recommended. But catch it at a cinema as the the volume of the score/music really adds to the flick. A strong 9.5/10

The 'A' Team is a certainty for the Razzle apparently!
Best film = Alien (1979)

Toy Story 3 is a fantastic film, I've seen it twice now (in 2D and 3D).
Really want to see Inception as well.
Watched The Usual Suspects for the first time tonight, that was really good too.

Last things I've seen in the cinema was
Robin Hood. - Not too shabby - 70/100 Sherlock Holmes. Loved it - 85/100 Dr. Parnassus. Gripping, and very 'Tim Burton' 77/100

Still on iPlayer. Most of it to be taken with a lorry load of salt, but thought it was an enjoyable watch none-the-less.

I want to see Inception and the A Team, saw The Karate Kid last night, not as good as the original, but not to bad at all and worth seeing.

Went to see Inception last night, really looking forward to it after all the hype and reccomendations. After 5/10 minutes i'd have walked out if i didn't have company and the place was packed. I just could not see what all the fuss was about, yes plenty of 'Special affects' gun fights, car chases etc -But it was a all fur coat and no knickers sort of movie for me. The plot centered around some cunning plan to plant thoughts and actions into someones Dreams, ''Never been done before'' Really? I thought it had, only it was called Hypnotism! But that was merely an excuse for the film makers to conjur up some average Special affects and 'Action.' All the ingredients were so so familiar, a so called Cameo by Michael Caine who was introduced for whatever reason at the beginning, and it was of great relief to see him appear towards the end of what was a long long evening- because at least we could get the hell out. Marks out of 10 - 3.

I think the reason a lot of people (including myself - I thought it was an 8/10) enjoyed Inception was, yeah, partly the really cool special effects but also the fact that for a Hollywood blockbuster it did have some originality, and it did have a certain complexity.
I don't think hypnotism is exactly the same thing as walking around in three levels of someone's mind!
You say you found it "so so familiar". Well I didn't - my brain was paddling furiously for two hours trying to keep up, and try and understand the rules of a world that was entirely unfamiliar. And I had absolutely no clue how it was going to end (as it turned out, I thought the ending was genius). Both of those things - having to use my brain, and having an element of unpredictability - I love when I'm going to see a movie.
Yes, it did go a little bit 'Matrix' for a few minutes in the hotel. And a little bit Bond for a few minutes with all the snow & ice. But that was just to keep the action fans happy. For the most part it was a pretty cerebral blockbuster - and that's a rare thing.
Going to see the A team this evening - and certainly don't expect it to be the same!

I thought Inception was genuinely awesome. Perhaps not quite, quite as good as Memento, but on a similar level. It's so rare to watch thrillers that are actually intelligent and slightly unpredictable. Even more so when it's high budget.
Toy Story 3 was also a very good film, really nicely made, paced, humour in the right places, not too much slapstick.
A really good pair of movies over the last couple of weeks.

Saw Inception tonight and agree, very good movie. Great cinematography. And yes, it did leave me thinking about a few points in the movie.
8/10

Everyone to their own, it seems many go along with the Hype and have enjoyed the film - I felt it a waste of time and money, but there you go. Think i'll get more out of Toy Story 3!!!

Got to see the A-Team last night. Very good for a bit of mindless, mind numbing fun, and kept me entertained right enough....
.... But did feel a bit cheated that they didn't hold true that one thing you were guarenteed with the series. Them going into a cave with a knife, blow torch and lump of metal, then coming out with a tank with daft weaponry taking out everyone.

Did not get to see the planned film Saturday night due to ex (not mine) making crap excuses at the last minute why they can not have their son as planned. Useless bloody useless. However stayed in and watch Shutter Island. Actual very good. I thought it was going to be crap but the twists are good.
