Well personally, I think its a great privilege to have the former member of Hitler Youth visitng our humble 3rd world country. However any contributions to the £20m cost would be welcomed, due to our poverty, from the Vatican's $15billion kitty.

Thankfully this is a Protestant nation, i have no problem with this person visiting his church members but this should NOT be a state visit!!
His "state" has less than 800 people living in it and he has no relevance to this country.
As i say if he wants to visit RC's then fine, and this Cardinasl Newman thing is a joke and just shows how backward this is....

Will be interesting to see the extent of the protests against the visit.

Im working in Edinburgh this week and bumped into four cardinals in reception this morning. Was a bit random when still half asleep. I will make a complaint this evening about their antisocial behaviour to reception.

The Pope should foot the security bill seeing as he is here promoting his own religion.

People are complaining about the cost of security for his visit.
But I don't think you can put a price on keeping the children of this country safe......

But then again, this is a third world country. The Pope should do the decent thing and leave our country if that's what some of his advisors think of a country who is paying for his visit.

The Pope is a former member of the Nazi youth and the head of the biggest paedophile ring in the world. Does he really believe he's getting into heaven?

As a good Catholic boy I should go against that. However I'm probably more agnostic/atheist. Anyway Hitler Youth wasn't an option. He was made out to be a nazi in some newspapers but he didn't volunteer to be part of the Hitler Jugend. Also about 2 priests out of 1000 are paedophiles. Which is above average for a job but still ridiculously low.

20% of German youth avoided joining the Hitler Youth so it wasnt that hard to get out of it even if it was comulsory. Plenty of people also avoided joining the Third Reich but he ended up doing that, and despite claims by his press that he deserted the Nazis, he still was considered worthy of imprisonment by the conquering Americans. Dont believe all his PR.

I'm a good Protestant boy and have never seen the heratic act of the mass, watched this last night and i would have to say it looked one of the most un christian services!
They carry the gospels, but this was written for the RC church and as a Protestant i would take the holy bible and the scriptures as the word of God and not the rants of a priest or pope
I am not anti RC though as if its someones faith then that should be respected, but i have no problem saying i am anti the teachings of the vatican.

www.top-ten-10.com/society/religion/beliefs_uk.htmI'd rather see Obi-Won-Kenobi. No problem with the pope having a visit, but it's blatantly a trip to try to recruit new followers and the tax payer shouldn't foot the bill. State visit my ar$e. As an aside, I know of someone who lives with the 'exclusion zone' around Cofton Park on Sunday, and can't care for their elderly relative as they are unable to leave the area. Wonder if the pope would offer to pay for a carer for the day?

I have just seen a picture of the Pope meeting Boris Johnson.
I would love to have been a fly on the wall for that one..... wonder if Boris can offend him?
