Must say it made me laugh when The Pope said that Atheists were Nazis.

As a good Catholic boy I should go against that. However I'm probably more agnostic/atheist. Anyway Hitler Youth wasn't an option. He was made out to be a nazi in some newspapers but he didn't volunteer to be part of the Hitler Jugend. Also about 2 priests out of 1000 are paedophiles. Which is above average for a job but still ridiculously low. How does that compare to the national average? If it's average then there are about a dozen paedophiles at most Oxford games!![/quote] i think you,ll find it,s 11.................. Andy Burgess has left ,,remember

The Pope is a former member of the Nazi youth and the head of the biggest paedophile ring in the world. Does he really believe he's getting into heaven? As a good Catholic boy I should go against that. However I'm probably more agnostic/atheist. Anyway Hitler Youth wasn't an option. I think the hitler youth jibes are really unwarranted and merely the hysterical carping of the tabloid press. Ratzinger was in the HY but was, by all accounts, an unenthusiastic member. His cousin was also taken away and gassed by the Nazis because he was disabled with down's syndrome.
There are surely more credible faults to find with him, like his conservatism and his open attacks on the C of E, than his membership of an organisation he was required to join by law in a totalitarian state, and which he was a member of when he was only a teenager anyway.
I don't have a problem with the idea of the pope visiting britain but why it is a state visit I don't know. The vatican should foot the bill for the visit as a music star's management foots the bill for the star's travel and security.
As an anglican i also think his visit is in bad taste. Coming on the back of his offer of fast track conversion for people disgruntled with women bishops etc, his beatification of Newman, who effectively thumbed his nose at the C of E by converting from anglicanism to catholicism (which the predominantly protestant population of the country is paying for) is somewhat insulting.

Agree with that post This sham with Newman really does make me laugh, how can a man create a saint ? Also this was only because as stated Newman converted from the Protestant faith to the RC faith, he was also the founder of the Oxford movement that worked to try and push the RC message within the CofE so this "miracle" is really a ploy to bring more high church over. I do wish there was an Archbishop of Canterbury with some balls to put him in his place !!
