An American Pastor plans to Burn a copy of The Koran this saturday 11/09/2010, and under USA law and freedom of speech he will be allowed to do so in the full glare of the public and no doubt the Worlds' Media.
Just caught a news item and interview of a Muslim Cleric who stated that if the Burning does go ahead, then 'It's the Duty of every Muslim to kill Americans no matter where they are in the World'
Madness.

Pastor Terry Jones is a total dick-head. Yes you can say that some mulsims burn our flags, and have no tolerance of anything other than Islam, but what he is doing is pointless and unneccesary, and will put soldiers and aid workers in some of the more hostile countries in danger. Even if only one of them dies, then we will have their blood on his hands.
By all means stand up to the extremists, but to burn something that is so sacred to muslims is indefensible.

As it's 60-odd years too late for Pastor Jones' daddy to have his knackers chopped off, the best thing that can happen is that there is such a massive protest against it at the church on Saturday that the Authorities have no option but to stop it going ahead on the grounds of public safety. (which is what will probably happen anyway)

They are all as bad as each other. Pastor Jones shouldn't burn the books, but also Islam needs to stop being so sensitive to every little thing other nutters do is an excuse for war. I realise for Muslims the word of god is sacrilege, but they need to realise it's only their god, not everyones and that they do not have a lock on doing silly burnings of things in front of the media.
Frankly I think the whole thing is pathetic, but some nut jobs can't help themselves.
Pastor Jones has also done a good job of generating PR for his church. He's putting the nut jobs from Westboro Baptist in a run for their money

Relegion should be banned, it only encourages the extremists and nutters and gives them excuses to maim and murder the innocent... And gives Catholic Priests license to abuse. So ban it, after all if there is some kind of all powerful forgiving caring Deity he/she/it will forgive us our tresspasses. |

If media d#ckheads hadn't made such a meal of this it probably would have gone unnoticed, and the crazies in Afghanistan and Iraq and elswehere would never have heard about it. As it is all the nutters who are in a position to kick off when the burning happens know all about it, and can act accordingly. The thing with islam as I see it is the fact that the Muslim calendar is about 500 years behind that of ours. If religions follow a predictable path, as I believe they do, then anything Muslims are doing now is only what other religons were up to 500-odd years ago. |
