I don't understand why pratts like this are given the publicity. If the media hadn't taken this up it would just be him and his little gang doing there thing and no one would care. Instead the press have jumped all over it making it front page news - and then have the cheek to bang on about troops being put in danger. Precisely. If media d#ckheads hadn't made such a meal of this it probably would have gone unnoticed, and the crazies in Afghanistan and Iraq and elswehere would never have heard about it. As it is all the nutters who are in a position to kick off when the burning happens know all about it, and can act accordingly. The thing with islam as I see it is the fact that the Muslim calendar is about 500 years behind that of ours. If religions follow a predictable path, as I believe they do, then anything Muslims are doing now is only what other religons were up to 500-odd years ago. The Muslims calendar may be dated, but their access to the current News is the same as yours or mine, and the fanatics will see the plan to burn the Koran as an opportunity to inflame (pun intended) the situation and cause conflict between Muslims and Christians. Which might make things awkward when buying a loaf at my local corner shop.

This guy says he was waiting for 'a sign from god' to stop the planned burning.
Then he says the Imam agreeing to move the Muslim Centre in NY was the sign. Funny how most of the world telling him it wasn't a good idea wasn't seen as 'a sign'!

If it had gone ahead whoever gets the royalties from the koran would be raking it in.
Reminds my of Black Sabbath, some religous tw*ts in USA went on about devils music and how they were going to burn every copy in the uS
Ozzy said once they've bought & paid for the records he couldnt give a f**k what they did with them, he'd get paid

Now I don't condone Terry Jones' potential action, but I do think we should have some perspective here. Persecution of Christians by 'followers' of Islam takes place on a regular basis and Bible destroying is nothing new in places like Pakistan and Indonesia. Fair point, but lots of things happen around the world - we, in the so-called developed world should be above this kind of thing

Fair point, but lots of things happen around the world - we, in the so-called developed world should be above this kind of thing And ironically, turning the other cheek is a fundamental Christian belief. Now where does an eye for an eye come from . . . . ? The literal meaning of the principle Eye for an Eye is that a person who has injured the eye of another is instructed to give the value of his or her own eye in compensation. At the root of this principle is that one of the purposes of the law is to provide equitable retribution for an offended party. The phrase, "an eye for an eye", (Hebrew: òéï úçú òéï, ʿayin taḥath ʿayin (Modern: ayin tachat ayin, literally "eye under eye")), is a quotation from several passages of the Hebrew Bible (Leviticus 24:19–21, Exodus 21:22–25, and Deuteronomy 19:21) in which a person who has injured the eye of another is instructed to give the value of his or her own eye in compensation. At the root of this principle is that one of the purposes of the law is to provide equitable retribution for an offended party. It defined and restricted the extent of retribution in the laws of the Torah.

I just found it ironic that amidst the protests against an act intensely disrespectful to islam viz. the burning of korans by a man in the United States, the protesting muslims were actually perpetrating an act intensely disrespectful to the United States, viz. the burning of US flags.
P.S. when did Qur'an become Koran?

Thats something I don't get. You burn our book and it's war, we burn your flag, what's the problem. Both acts are equally as disrespecful. But for whatever reason the people that burn the flags don't equate that what they are doing is the very thing they are protesting about someone else doing in the first place.

Or that people engage in terrorist threats because the prophet is portrayed as a terrorist! Just the universal problem of ignorant fools. Same as the fundamentalist Christians who know jack shit about the bible's content

Ignorance is bliss.... It's why so many religions are blissfully ignorant of each other (& the contents of their own doctrine) and feel the need to allow so many frothing loons to dictate what they think.
Whether you are a Christian, Catholic, Mormon or Muslim, the day you let the mentalists rule the roost, is the day that it proves God doesn't exist. Nothing like Gods word of fact being manipulated by the followers eh?
And besides, the burning of a holy book isn't good for man kinds carbon foot print is it? ;D

If he goes ahead and does it I'll give him a life expectancy of about a week. That's generous, or optimistic i reckon. Relegion should be banned, it only encourages the extremists and nutters and gives them excuses to maim and murder the innocent... And gives Catholic Priests license to abuse. So ban it, after all if there is some kind of all powerful forgiving caring Deity he/she/it will forgive us our tresspasses. Amen to that brother. Thank God for Atheism. As for Terry Jones he's just an attention seeker now Monty Python don't make films anymore...

What do you think would happen if Muzzies had the nuclear arsenal of the west and we had theirs? they wouldnt think twice AND if we had the oil reserves would just take it instead of pay for it.....get real given half a chance they would wipe us out as soon as look at us...that includes the enemy we have within.

As far as I'm concerned (and I'd like to think there are quite a few decent people on here who'd agree with me), the real "enemy within" are the likes of you and Danny C_nt.
