A 19 year old striker from Chelsea on a months loan. Club text. Will try and get some info on him,my son knows a lad who would have played in Chelsea's reserves with him,but i think it could be a good signing.

I hear everyone saying but we could extend it. Rubbish it will never happen. He's not a kid he's 19. I am happy to come back in one month and say sorry if I am proved to be wrong.

Both the player and club get to work with one another, then part after one month if either party wants more from the other... or agree to a longer term deal that suits all parties.

Just been chatting to the Chelsea researcher for FM who regularly watches the youth and reserve teams. When I asked him if he could play up front he said: He hasn't really played it in three years. He's lined up there occasionally, but just as often at centre-back. Better in midfield. and then said: If you play a lone striker flanked by two wide he certainly can't play wide, he's not quick and he's not a dribbler. Think of a player of Paul Scholes' style (not ability), not an exceptional athlete, not flashy skilled but has good technical ability, and they play with a similar approach. And gave me a link to his player profile on thechels wiki www.thechels.info/wiki/Daniel_Philliskirk

I guess we'll have to wait and see what position and the role CW sees him playing. If it is with a view to a long term loan then I pleased at the club's approach in having a look first. The best way to ensure the club and player are both happy with the move. The other positive of this is how it looks like the club is trying to build links with the big clubs (Chelsea) or bigger clubs (Rangers ).

I'm really concerned about this. What does this say about Woodley? Is he not considered good enough?
If I was Aaron Woodley, I'd be wondering what I have to do to get a chance, I always thought that if you go to the trouble and expense of getting someone in on loan, then it means they are going to play. Its great to have competition in the squad, but you have to also give people a chance.

Does not exactly fill them with confidence that there's a place in the first team up for grabs.

Its great to have competition in the squad, but you have to also give people a chance. That assumes Philliskirk will be used as a forward rather than as a midfielder which the comments from Chelsea and those supporting Chelsea suggest he is. He could be covering injuries to Baker and Clist or an addition to these even if on a long term loan. Also, it is down to Woodley to force his way into the 1st team reckoning and make it impossible for CW to leave him out of the squad just as Deering did when he got his chance last season.

Deering had established himself as an impressive player before that, though, Woodley hasn't had the chance. I don't think this is a bad move, but it does make me worry for Woodley.
