Enjoying a good rant this morning.
Whenever there is snow we always get a batch of whingers (usually miserable Scots) claiming that the media are only interested when London is affected.
This is clearly untrue - much of the country's problems were on TV when London had no snow.
I've just heard an idiot moaning that villagers in northern Caithness were cut off, yet all we hear is London. London. London. Oh what, so that's the interests of 50 people and a few freezing sheep over 10 million in the national capital? Why do we pay our licence fee to those cowboys at the BBC?

This is a bit like having to rush to Roddy Forsythe on five live when rangers scored a goal, when nobody south of the border cares. How many Scots listen to five live? We don't have to have updates on Welsh and Northern Irish football so why Scottish?

Well, no. It's not comparative at all. There are 5 million Scots in England for a start, and Rangers have a huge following, unlike Port Talbot or Glanavon.

Hear hear
The northerners whinging pisses me off every time we get severe weather.
Snow is not just a north-south thing anyway. The south-east gets more than the north-west for example.

Thats nearly as many as live in Scotland, dodgy stat that. I was surprised, but 'tis true apparently. It's actually MORE Scots than are in Scotland due to an influx of English people connected to the Scottish Parliament. EDIT - Let's be clear, this is people of Scottish descent, although 800,000 Scottish-born people now live in other areas of the UK, vast majority in England.

Found a stat that said 800,000 (guess who cant work today because of the weather) living here, but then claimed 5 million of scottish heritage. Would be wary of that though as having one great grandfather probably qualifies you even if you have never been there or feel no affinity with the frostbitten hellhole.
One of my great grandfather's was Jewish but I dont support Tottenham, Ajax or Maccabi haifa. Or follow the religion, which is probably more pertinant.

One side of my family is Hartlepudlian, but I very, very rarely hang monkeys on Hartlepool beach. (None of my clients are contactable today, I'm coming for Gavin's total).

ALso worth mentioning that it costs the economy a heck of alot more (which affects everyone0 if London grinds to a halt, and London is far more prone because of the huge reliance on public transport (which is usually the most affected by snow in comparison to road traffic).
Kent gets ridiculous amounts of snow. If even a drop falls in London or Carlisle, you can bet Kent has been disabled. At least it stops all those pesky immigrants coming through from Sangatte ;-)

I've already contacted the official supporters club in England that currently has 7 million members, all with photo ID cards issued by the Glenavon Management Team. You've as good as drawn a target on your back there Hoodsie with you ignorance. Check under yer car tomorrow morning....

Im a northerner and I can whinge all i want about you softy southerners being unable to cope with a bit of the white stuff.
Up here, where its snowed about an inch there's no trouble yet you lot can't cope with a foot!
Seriously though, the coverage of anywhere north of the watford gap is seriously mediocre, not just with regards to snow but many other things. That said, coverage of anything west of reading isn't great either.
You have to spare a thought for the welsh though. In aberystwyth, where i'm at uni, they had the 'worst snow in decades' which consisted of about half an inch of powder which melted after about eight hours. This was however still enough to stop the trains, knacker the buses and shut the university...
