Airbus having a few issues with Qantas A380's, with engine problems.
Anyone flown one A380? I did and was very impresses, especially if you sit upstairs with a window seat.
What about other experiences on planes, any good and bad ones?
A couple for me, flew on a Lockheed Electra in the 80's on a internal flight in Indonesia, door was open to cockpit, plane rattled, was so hot inside. Also flying on a Boeing 707 with Air Niugini. Also remember when smoking was allowed on planes, they sat at the back but still the whole plane stank of smoke.

I was on a BMI De Haviland (sp?) propeller thing one from Edinburgh to Birmingham - not a good time for me. If it doesn't have a jet engine, I ain't happy! It was, of course, absolutely fine but still, I prefer a jet engine - even a Rolls Royce one!
I flew to an away game once - Gateshead Away, September 2009! Good old EasyJet! Massive Hen do on the flight to Newcastle that were really loud going there but they were hanging on the way back!!

It's all about the Lockheed L-1011 "Tristar" ! Yep, flew in one of those, with now defunct "Western" airlines in the US. Didnt it have one of the worst safety records?

My first ever flight when I went on a school skiiing trip at the age of 12 was on a Dan-Air Comet. When one of my friends pushed the call button several rows of panels fell down on her and there were wires everywhere. Several people had to hold the panel in place when the plane came into land at Venice airport. That was not very inspiring and it was pretty scary coming into Venice in the fog when the water appeared just below us shortly before landing. The Comet was the first jet airliner and they had been flying (sometimes crashing) for 26 years by the time I flew on one. I have flown at least 100 times since then and that still remains the worst incident I've experienced. It may be because I am deaf but planes seem to be so quiet these days. I wonder if this was the one (It was closer to the Wright Brothers version of flying than the A380):- upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/77/DH106_Comet_4_Dan-Air_Duxford_1985.jpg

My girlfriend and I have a friend over for dinner next week who sells service contracts for Rolls Royce Aero so if I am brave enough to raise the subject then it could be an interesting conversation.

Cathay Pacific Airbus A340 by the looks of it Indeed but A380. Am a big fan. I saw the A380 at Farnborough this year, its manoeuvrability was mindblowing for such a big beast. See below www.youtube.com/watch?v=T28wC8UPk7U

Flew on an Emirates 380 a while ago. Big, quiet, lotsa legroom in economy. Takes off, lands; does all I require.
A few (10?) years ago Saudia were flying Tristars for internal flights; no AC till the engines started. Not a lot of fun.

I got the picture of the internet. Regardless of correct livery, it still is a magnificent aircraft.
