Hmm....
Being able to smoke in the ground. Joeys 40 yard winner against Blackpool and going bezerk. Any big game, Leeds, Chelsea, Sunderland, the banter We are the left side.............................................. Being able to swear, singing totally outrageous songs I think it was Barnsley, they were promoted and we saluted them All the big cup games London Road sounding deafening Elliott and Gilchrist at corners with Joey (again) placing the ball perfectly on their heads

In that dark alley in the cuckoo lane end I'm sure I remember building equipment, old floodlights etc would never be allowed now. Remember Everton only getting half of the cuckoo lane for the FA cup match and they were so packed in that they bent the crush barriers with their bodies. Also remember the cup game at home v Newcastle that the London road end was so packed that many people's feet didn't actually touch the floor!

Yes, agree with lots of the comments here but the most poignant and stand out for me was the smell of the ground.
A combination of cigarettes, beer, burgers, people, concrete, grass, linenment, sometimes pot on the left side. Seeing the same faces in exactly the same pot every other week, not knowing their names but always giving a nod of recognition.
Sadly those days are long gone.

I have not read them all so sorry if this has already been mentioned. Winning 4-0 against (I think) Barnsley and almost being crushed to death last game of the season to get promoted to div 1, 1984/85 season.

Seeing a game from EVERY section/stand of the ground. I completed it against Bolton (midweek I think). Drove down from Essex in torrential rain ,arrived late and couldn`t get in the LRT or Osler so paid and went in the Cuckoo lane & got soaked. Bolton fan said "Where do you normally stand?" I pointed at the ominous dark slot that was the gap between the wall & roof of the LRT with a few patches of faces illuminated by the crappy safety lighting and said "In there". He took a few paces away. I loved the way many lads worked their way around the ground..from the Beech or Osler with parents, onto the edge of the LRT before eventually earning their place in the melee in the middle. "Knees up Mother Brown"....convinced someone would die one day crushed against a barrier. People queing for food with a gap in the queue where the yellow rain was dripping out of the back of the LRT. Frank Kowalski with his badges & programmes. Our first "Football Intelligence Officer"...beat copper from Wheatley? Once nicked me outside the White Horse.....after Notss County away for some obscure reason. Queing overnight for Man Ure cup tickets. Ticket touts. Fags & beer. Bruce Grobbelaar signing my programme ...after he signed & before he left (about 10 hours between them !!lol) Standing next to your mates and knowing where they would be week in week out (that hasn`t changed much) Not getting shin scrapes from stupid plastic seats. That`ll do for now!! ;D

I love these "memory lane" topics!
The very old lady who stood at the front of the London Road (right side) every home match. I believe she died, unfortunately.
The cringingly crude comments made to any young female who walked in front of the LR.
The lottery of trying to get a cup of tea at half time from the two foot wide kiosk under the LR.
Millwall clearing the Cuckoo Lane two minutes from the end of their 2-1 victory. Everyone knew what was happening, but the police were still caught by surprise when they were all waiting outside the ground for the home support. Most Oxford fans stayed in the ground for a while that day. Oxford station looked like something out of "Robocop" later.
Having my glasses knocked off in a packed LR, then trodden on. Driving home 55 miles, blind as a bat!
Feeling downhearted that Pompey had control of the LR at 2.58, then happy when our lot chased them out at 2.59!
As a kid, having a fry up in the Golden Egg in the city centre, then walking to the ground with my Dad.

So many great memories.........
The 5-5 against Pompey
Nappy
Beating Barnsley at home 4-0
Aldridges' hat-trick and a Neil Slatter goal in the 4-3 defeat of Ipswich
Mike Read stitching us up
Watching John Lukic take a goal kick which went into the Osler Road about 20 yards from his penalty box

Steve Biggins scoring the extra time winner in the epic League Cup 2nd replay clash against Man United in 1983(?). A magical moment and a bit of peace from those pestilent Oxford based Man U fans.

It was branded "Golden Egg". Early 70s. Was the Golden Egg down George Street in the late 70's? As a kid we often ate in Burgerland (now Burger King) then walked along High street through St Clements and up Headington Hill ! Who remembers the Oranges and Lemons pub in St Clements?
