Not really an Oxford thread, but the sensationalism of there reporting is getting more like the NOTW every day. In todays "rag" under the banner headline U'S SAVOUR CUP CLASH Is the comment "When they were suffering in the wasteland of the Blue square premier" Now i know we hated being in the CON but,Wasteland? Even worse on page 30,again under a big banner headline, DIDCOT ARE ROCKED AS BROWN DEPARTS "Didcot Town have been dealt a blow after centre back Martin Brown rejoined his old team Thame United" But if you actually read the story, manager Stuart Peace comments, "Martin trained with us once in pre-season,but hasnt been back,so i assume he has left" The article goes on to say that Didcot have signed Andy Gunn from Oxford City and with 5 players fighting for 2 centre half places,Brown didnt fancy his chances of playing. The manager didnt sound "rocked" to me,or how the fifth choice centre half leaving is a "blow" to the club. Obviously no news on the non league front,so the Mail sensationalise a non story.

Their headline about the "stabbing" seemed a bit OTT as well "Potter arrested then released after stabbing" Why not just say something like "Potter released without charge" why always drag it into the most negative view.

I imagine sensationalising the statement helps them to shit papers and create a buzz about the story. That's why.

Count yourselves lucky that the oxford fail give you good coverage when the smaller clubs, us,dids, banbury etc struggle for a paragraph for midweek games

I have to admit that I have not read the Oxford Mail for a long time. Always though that it was a rag and all the over the top reporting just confirms it

I have to admit that I have not read the Oxford Mail for a long time. Always though that it was a rag and all the over the top reporting just confirms it Being an exile the only time I ever read the mail in physical form is when attending matches and only then because its cheap and it gives me something to read other than the programme before the match and on the train home. The online site is OK but i only ever look at the OUFC section which, as we all know, has its fair share of blundering, innacurate and sensartion-seeking stories.
