Am in the hotel posting this, today proved for me that we can no doubt cut it but for those claiming we would boss things, they can think again !!

What hotel!
I thought for the 1st hour our midfield struggled. Front 3 looked off the pace , worley and batt struggled.
Last half hour we got it together and played some decent stuff. Batt looked much better and was getting forward well.
A stronger ref and we might have had a few free kicks 20 yards out.
A decent point, we will be the happier of the 2 sets of fans..

Let us not forget that it's only the first game of the season. Once we've played a dozen or so games we'll have a better idea of whats required and how we'll do.

I don't think anyone thought we could boss things. Plus, a 0-0 draw on your first day back in the football league away at one of the league's stronger teams is really nothing to be worried about. I think this was an introduction to the way the football league will be, and from here on in, we'll be much better.

We did alright. We played some really good stuff away from home and I can't wait for Bury at home next Saturday!
The team will improve as the new guys gel, I'm confident we can compete well in league 2.
Good to be back! :-)

Good point away from home! Sorry I couldn't make it. Disappointing home crowd at Burton. How many Yellows made it to the Pirelli?

Not a very inspiring game, but we matched Burton. Tonkin had a good game. Green failed to get into good positions and I wasn't surprised when he came off. Both sides had chances. Ref was appallingly inconsistent. Our fans were great.

I thought we handled ourselves ok. We were solid at the back, but then so were they. They had two monsters at the back who didn't take any prisoners. They could of course carry on with their bully boy tactics because they were never punished.
Neither side were very potent up front. They came close on one of the many free kicks awarded to them for falling over. The ref was a homer, he missed two very obvious handballs as well.
Good effort from the lads and good to get our first away point on the board and no goals conceded. I'm happy.

Good start I think. Tough game, lots of battles over the park but I think we were in it from the start and they only had 2 chances over the course of the game.
We passed it well at times and looked comfortable at the back but probably lost a bit of momentum when the changes were made as we were starting to really boss proceedings at that point.
Can't fault the performance, roll on Bury.

Heslop and Wright were very solid, good performances all over the side really, but especially from those two.

Only first game of the season!
We looked solid at the back and in midfield apart from a few silly mistakes. The striking department needs some work, however.

point was a fair reflection after little goalmouth action, quality save by clarkie in the first half and Midson and Hall maybe could have done better with their chances in the second. Think Burton will be at least mid table and we matched them if not outplayed them in some periods, so many positives. The midfield trio worked hard but not much creativity and Bulman especially looked a little slow. The front 3 worked hard although beano didn't get anything out of Moore apart from alot of pushing. Midson held the ball up well but is being played out of position which is a shame for him. Green's legs went after 60 minutes. Worley impressed me and he isn't afraid to go forward which is a good thing.

I did predict a 0-0 on here and that Beano would get booked, so not much surprised me.
Wright and Worley looked like a good partnership, Tonks did well defensively but wasn't really an attacking threat. Batt on the other hand was dangerous going forward but a bit suspect defensively (as is usually the case). Clarke made a couple of decent saves, but Burton weren't that threatening on the whole.
Heslop got better as the game went on, Bulman was his normal solid self and Hall was a bit disappointing for me. Up front Beano worked hard to little effect, Green and Midson were pretty impotent. I'm not surprised that LSD and Philiskirk came on for them.
We passed the ball about nicely for some parts of the game, but in front of the Burton defence a lot of the time, rather than through it. We are still a bit shot shy in front of goal.
We need to work on set plays - when we have a free kick, taking it quickly and passing it to a man who is already marked by two oppo players isn't a good idea!
Generally fairly encouraging, which room for improvement - I guess what you'd expect in the first competitive match of the season. A good away point as far as I am concerned.

Burton suprised me with how physical they were but we stuck at it well.
We've got to work harder at keeping the ball in the final third and working the openings - they were solid at the back and gave little away.
No gimmes at the back, better movement off the ball and awareness of space looked the main differences from what we were up against last year.
Sammy Deering and Jake Wright were our two class acts today. Solid Heslop, Hall & Worley's debuts too.
Overall a solid first away performance. There's more to come from this side but not a bad start.
Fans as ever were superb. Looking forward to Rovers and Bury next week already.
