On Saturday 4th September there are no Premier League or Championship games across England, with England playing the evening before (England vs Bulgaria, European Championship, Friday, 03/09/2010).
This is being promoted as a chance for fans of these teams to go and watch their local non-league team, but why shouldn't we hijack it too?
I don't know many people with season tickets for the Top 2 leagues, but perhaps the club could do a promo like Bury did. Bring your season ticket from another club and get entrance for £10?
Anyway - I've emailed the club with the suggestion.

Our local non league team are Oxford City so we should go and watch them surely? exactly - OUFC fans will already be at the home game against Morecambe, but Arsenal / Man U fans could go and watch Oxford City instead (or even Oxford United as I suggest)

So theres no reason why thousands of Morecambe fans can't make the trip to the peoples stadium then ?

Last season, Bury v Shrewsbury had a deal on that if you brought a season ticket from another club, you could get in at a reduced rate. Something like 200 people turned up with other teams season tickets. That's another £2k that wouldn't have been put through the turnstyles without this idea - there was even a Borussia Dortmund Season Ticket!

Something like 200 people turned up with other teams season tickets. That's another £2k that wouldn't have been put through the turnstyles without this idea - there was even a Borussia Dortmund Season Ticket! This was a league 2 game, and was I think a Friday night on Sky TV, but this could be an idea which doesn’t upset regular ticket buyers too much.
Bury played Shrewsbury Town on Friday 19 February and the club sent out a general invitation to season ticket holders from other clubs for the game.
Supporters were asked to show their home season ticket and gain access for just £5.00.Bury won the game 1-0 in what turned out to be an absolute cracker of a game.
The number of supporters from other clubs was recorded on the night and we can now reveal the numbers of those that did come to watch the game, as follows:
82 Manchester City fans 76 Manchester United Fans 59 Bolton Wanderers Fans 48 Burnley Fans 36 Blackburn Rovers Fans 29 Accrington Stanley Fans 21 Oldham Athletic Fans 18 Rochdale Fans 15 Preston North End Fans 14 Huddersfield Town Fans 12 Mansfield Town Fans 8 Sunderland Fans 2 Coventry City Fans 2 Everton Fans 2 West Bromwich Albion Fans 2 Liverpool Fans 2 Arsenal Fans 1 Sheffield Wednesday Fans 1 Leeds United Fans 1 Birmingham City Fans 1 Wolverhampton Wanderers Fans 1 Wigan Athletic Fan 1 Doncaster Rovers Fan 1 Borrussia Dortmund Fan

My wedding day so I have already lowered the attendance by about 12 - so it seems a good idea to me! Helps fill in our gaps...

18 Rochdale fans went to Bury?
How many Oxford fans would go to Swindon if they did the same thing?

18 Rochdale fans went to Bury? How many Oxford fans would go to Swindon if they did the same thing? A few but only if we can get on the away end with our Oxford flags.
