Okay, I was on my commute to London this morning and for some unknown reason - the Fernando Torres song was stuck in my head! So to focus on all things yellow - I wondered, if we could personalize it..... Step Forward James Constanble. "He came from Shewsbury to Oxford" (Beano! Beano!) "Born up the A420 but bleeds" (Yellow! Yellow!) "His head looks like a Bean from Heinz" "He scores the goals, he's our number nine" Beano Constanble Oxford Goal Machine....... Onto the Na na na na (bouncing bit)...... Any good or do I need to get out more.....?!

Scousers just copied them Ok maybe it would work, but few fans would sing it I reckon, too complicated for people to get the words to it. Especially the version someone thought up at the top of the thread. Who else sings it about their players?

I agree that our fans wont sing it. Our lot are poor. We have about four songs. And never take on any new ones. I'd sing it. And think we desperately need new catchy songs, to go with the long time favourites

The only ones that get sung in the Oxford Mail stand apart from the ones the Oxford Ultras sing, are ones that are easy to pick up on, and words that can be easily remembered.
Theres no variation really apart from the stuff they sing.
Id definitely sing it with you, but doubt anyone would join in.
What was that song you started for Haldane a couple of years ago similar to the ronaldo one they used to sing at Man utd?

I thought we did sing this already? (when I've had a few I usually sing it, I swear I heard it though and hadn't made it up)
Heres what I thought was the version we sang
He's got a sweet right foot we said Beano Beano He's Oxford till I die he said Beano Beano
We got the lad from shrewsbury town He'll make your your keeper look a clown
James Cons-ta-ble Oxfords number 9
Na na na na na na na na na na

I would guess that most songs start off relatively complicated and then when sung a few times - start to take off!!
I can't imagine the Torres song just 'jumped off the shelf'....
But it is true - it is not easy to get songs to take off. I think they take off better away first as singers can group together more easily and then when seperated at home (the 500+ who were away) can join in and others follow.
Lets be honest - the song needs to be about your star/ cult hero - it was never going to take off for the orange man!
I had not heard/ seen that other beano version before.
