Maybe a wheel invented moment but hey ho.
I know there have been one or 2 threads mentioning the lack of promotion of the Bury and Bristol Rovers games. Obviously, the club have started to address this with the article today on the OWS and the games will no doubt be publicised in the Ox Mail. Furthermore, the club may have more planned leading up to the day of both games.
As a suggestion, why don't we, the supporters, speed the process up ourselves by starting to promote the game as a 1st step by encouraging friends and family to go to these games. The second step could be doing a poster campaign advertising the games as was done by supporters on occasion last season.
Somebody* has already helpfully produced a poster on the oxkits website (available at www.oxkits.co.uk/wallpapers/oufc%20fixture%20poster%20Aug%202010-11.jpg) which could be used (or an alternative if so desired) promoting Bury, Bristol Rovers and Accrington Stanley games. If we could start putting the posters up all around Oxfordshire and anywhere else (as long as legal obviously as well) likely to attract people to an OUFC game it would be fantastic.
I think it would be good if we, the supporters, help promote the opening games as it helps show a continuance of the excellent additional support (ie. previous poster campaigns and 12th man Fund) from fans last season. Also, a bigger crowd will hopefully improve the atmosphere for those going as well, so a bit of self interest chucked in ( ;D) and any financial boost, whatever the size, for the club is obviously worthwhile.
*Thank you although my thanks doesn't mean much at all.
