Granted, i wasnt there tonight (i was last year), but if its true that yet again City players were going flying into tackles for the second year in a row, surely we have stop playing Oxford City in friendly matches? Its not an issue with any other team, but City seem intent on injuring our players in what is meant to be a friendly warm up game

Agree 100%
Said this before the game, city players many of them ex oufc players are out to make a name for themselves.
I hope none of our players are injured...

But do we need this type of game this close to the start of the season? Say beano picked up a knock, it would likley keep him out for 2-3 weeks then what?

Sorry to disagree with you JL. I was there and IMO the game was fought out in a friendly spirit. We did not field a particularly strong side, but it was a good work-out and I left ten minutes from time with city leading 1-0......and deservedly so
There was a good crowd and a good friendly atmosphere and I feel most people who were there would want this fixture continued......I certainly would.

Give it a rest, Junior. Your one-man and childish vendetta against City is getting tiresome now. You weren't even there to comment.
The worst challenge of the night was Woodley on one of City's centre backs. He apologised and everyone got on with it.

The only issue I have with this particular match is the fact that the official site seemed to indicate far more first team players woiuld be turning out than actually happened. I would have gone no matter what side was sent out, but I did here several comments about the lack of first teamers present.

.....that is very fair comment dbf and many people were remarking on this fact. Dont' know who is responsible but whoever it is should be more careful.

It got a bit heated for about 5 minutes but the likes of Woodley and Clarkie will always play on the edge. There were no real issues and it was a decent run around for us. We weren't great and City did well so no complaints about the result, despite the goal being a fluke.

I think the main talking point from tonight is the need for a new striker. If Beano gets injured, we will struggle to score

You are spot on there JL.........cant think Wilder is'nt aware of it too. Hopefully he'll produce a rabbit out of the hat - if not, pray IMHO.

Well - from what I saw tonight, Sam, Alfie and Aaron put in a full 90 min shift, and that's about it. Mitchell Cole was very good for a couple of runs in the first half then seemed to go missing for the rest of the match. A Trialist looked quite accomplished in midfield. Worley came on & did well second half.
It was a flashback to Conference football at its worst - hoof, hope & hassel & only City played any football.
Unfortunately - United looked what they were tonight...a second string grouping.
Respect to KT though - stayed & watched it all - Didn`t look very happy I`m afraid....

A few bad tackles from both sides with Mickey Lewis telling Midson to "give him some" referring to Clarke who played well as did all the city side. time to end our annual friendly?...probably...glad Beano and Green didnt appear

i wasnt there last night but i would hate for the City v United game to be scrapped indeed i think it was an insult that it wasnt the firat pre-season and played on a saturday afternoon. oxford city are a great club and with so many connections with our club then it should be a pleasure bringing the 2 teams together. i tackle here or there can quickly be forgotten,.

Absolutely not. The games with local sides are an important part of the pre-season and benefit all parties concerned. If we should have learned anything from our time in non-league, it is that a club is defined by its success on the pitch, not an attitude off it.
James Clarke approached the game as if he had something to prove. He did. Better to compete than not bother, but you did need quality too.
Overall it was a poor game but a good atmosphere. I wish City well for the season.
