Was really surprised in them, so few singing in fact seemed so few of them. Seemed a horrible place, for a newish ground they built it too small, in the middle of nowhere, hardly any pubs around, shared refreshments and toilets for the fans on the side and behind the goal etc

Yeah not the best place.
Then again
The Kassam - Middle of nowhere (for away fans this is btw) - (Hardly any pubs around being - the Priory &... which can be hard to get served, or Frankie and Benny's or the Blackbird).
Thats what i'd see if I was an away fan. But luckily I'm not.
Hopefully we won't be going there next season!

Which you might not even know exists and is potentially hard to find from the ground if you don't know where you're going. Plus the fact thet it isn't exactly the most welcoming for away fans.

The phrase small club with a small mentality was made for Northampton, a glorified Stevenage
Never been in the top 2 divisions, never won a trophy

At least the council estate is where a lot of our fans live so it's handy for them. It has also encouraged new fans to come, I know of quite a few people who never used to come to the Manor from Blackbird Leys but now the stadium has moved near them, they started coming to the games and have now got the bug. Agree not many pubs near our ground, but we did let Northampton fans into the Priory where as we were turned away from the Sixfields Tavern. Plus we have a free car park where as many Oxford fans had to pay 2 quid to park in a muddy field at Northampton.

No wonder amongst some other teams fans we come across as being big headed and arrogant which is precisely what we say about Luton (pot, kettle and black springs to mind). There seems to be a fascination on here with other teams support and crowd sizes (by some). If i was an outsider looking in it would look like a bit of an inferiority complex going on. I think its great the crowds we are pulling both home and away but i don't get the preoccupation some have with other teams support.

It's called banter, if you look on the Northampton fans site you will see they call us Headington United or Poxford, I know a bit childish but who cares? it's banter.

You have me all wrong, I love banter but normally banter is between two people or parties and has a little intelligence and humour in there. Your opening post, for example, has none of this. It just appears as an arrogant statement (to me anyway). In any case its not just this thread but in general some fans are preoccupied with how big we are compared to other clubs. I remember people being bemused, for instance, at how little fans Histon came with even though they are a tiny village (what do people expect).

Sixfields is a shit ground no doubt, and all the singers are in the stand opposite where you lot were. You can't hear them and they can't hear you. If you look on our forum there's people who stand in the North stand saying they couldn't hear you guys, and you obviously couldn't hear them either. So it's just a shit ground with shit acoustics. I was sat in the West and heard you lot and were probably the loudest away support we've had this season, and fair play to the lads in the middle of the North who were constantly singing even after each time you went behind. Definitely will be the biggest in numbers we'll have at sixfields this season too. Not that it means much. your grounds not exactly great for an away fan either, mind...

Histon you expect to have bad support as it's a small place, but Northampton has a bigger population than Oxford and I know they like their rugby but I would of expected more football fans for a place with a population of over 200,000. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northampton

With respect, when Northampton planned to move and build a new ground, they went for the cheapest, smallest and most uninspiring stadium imaginable. If that's not the most unambitious thing any club has ever done, I'd like to know what is....

Northampton have the potential to be a bigger club than they are - but they have no ambition.

Well they are disadvantaged by having a successful rugby team taking up to 10k sporting spectators away from their potential gate at weekends and, to a lesser extent, a major county cricket team on their doorstep. How would we fair under such circumstances? They’ve also got rushden and diamonds and Kettering taking a little support from them. In terms of county population size we are similar but I think its fair to say they have more sporting distractions than us.

Mixed feelings about Northampton's ground. Seemed pretty bland and soulless. Maybe it made sense rather than building a ground that the club could not afford! However it would not make me feel like the sort of place I would want to frequent week in week out but I suppose if they were winning every week, moving up the leagues it would be cheap to demolish one of the stands to expand.
