...will be a real test to find out if we truly are promotion candidates or not. 18 points up for grabs against some of the better teams around.
I think if we get 11 or more points then we can really start dreaming. Less than that and I think we will end up un mid=table comfort. But this league is so close, anybody can beat anybody (almost).
Personally I'm an eternal optimist and this is my forecast
Northampton away 3 pts Shrewsbury home 3 pts Cheltenham home 3 pts Southend away 1 pt Gillingham away 0 pt Rotherham home 3 pts
Total of 13 which should see us into the play-off places for the time being.
Are my glasses too rosy?

Are my glasses too rosy? My forecast is with my head not my heart and, given the fixtures, I dont think a 9 point return would be disastrous. If we could turn one of those draws into a win and get 11 from the 18 then I think that would be excellent. 13 looks a big ask and if we got that or any more then we really can start dreaming.

Well, this is the way I see it. If we continue like over the last 8 games, we are serious playoff contenders, maybe in with a shout of automatic promotion. If we falter like the 8 games before than, then will slip into lower mid.
I dont know if there is a specific reason over our recent form, MacLean? Wilder or ? They have been close games, mainly 2-1's. As said, no clean sheet for nearly 20 games.
Am not getting excited just yet, I think the next 12 games will show us how good we are, with 10 games to go
DLDDWWLD = 10 points DWLLWLLLL = 7 points WWWLWWW = 18 points

As we have now won 3 on the trot and are expecting a win at Northampton, we won't, think it will be a draw. Southend and Gills away will be wins - revenge for home defeats. Shrewsbury win Cheltenham draw Rotherham draw (but if if Alf Fond is sold a win)
12 points. I think we will now average at least 2 points a game to end of season. Creep into 3rd place last game of season at Shrewsbury.

The tremendous statistic over the last 6 or so weeks has been that we have been turning DRAWS into WINS, the extra 2 points that we achieved at Chesterfield, Torquay and Aldershot after scoring late goals has propelled us into a threatening position and on to the fringes of the playoffs. if and a big if, if we can stay in and around 5th - 10th over the next 20 or so games in the remainder of the season we would push the pace setters all the way. . Northampton - at least a point, if not more Shrewsbury - at least a point, if not more Cheltenham - 3 points Southend - 1 point Gillingham - very tough, however 1 point Rotherham - at least a point, if not more. . 10 points will keep us in touch. . Our last 6 games of the season pitt our witts against Wycombe, Chesterfield and Lincoln at home and Accrington, Barnet and Shrewsbury away. baring Accrington, the other 5 games good be very exiting with large home crowds and a tremendous YELLOWS away following .........

Never look too far ahead, yes some tough looking fixtures but most are in this division & we have shown that we're capable of getting points at some difficult venues. Focus right now is the Cobblers and the players will be bouyed by not just the win yesterday but the complete performance. There will be a very large away following at sixfields which should boost our lads even further.

At the moment we shouldn't fear anybody, but lets not take points for granted. Get behind the lads like the last three games and if we keep Maclean I reckon we could be there or thereabouts.

Hate to sound pessimistic but I wouldn't be surprised if we lost to Cheltenham, Southend of Gillingham. And given all the optimism now it would be typical if we turned in a an awful performance at Northampton!

I'd hate to think what you're like after a bad performance and loss, or do you thrive on negativity?

think a lot depends on whether or not we can keep the side&bench going that we had yesterday. If Maclean isn't playing I don't think we'll do as well as if he is...(possibly at the risk of stating the bleedin' obvious!)

To slightly misquote Mr Wilder - "One game at a time, one game at a time!!!"

January window could be vital to all teams in Div. Cobblers aiming to BUY 3 new forwards! Got one already in Laurent and maybe Zola too?

With only a decision from Maclean outstanding, we could establish a settled side and move ahead of those clubs who are still trying to make deals.
4 points from the next two games, 10 from the next six should be a minimum. Prediction: win three of the next four and lose the last two.

Agree with one game at a time approach.
Also, let's not put pressure on ourselves here. We weren't expecting a promotion challenge and we should ensure that as fans we keep it positive. I'd hate for us to start feeling under pressure to get in to the top 7 and that then portray itself negatively to the players and management who have, so far, done another superb job this season.
