Hats off to Wilder.
He looked very young, in a playing sense, earlier in the season but his pairing with the more experienced Wright is working wonders.
Wilder said he would come good and hes starting to. Could earn us a few quid in the future.
Its amazing we concede like we do. We've got potentially the best CB and GK trio in the league.

The stats say we have gone the longest time without a clean sheet in England and Scotland this season. (Swindon are second by the way)

I think he has been absolutely exceptional lately. Wright gets all the plaudits and more often than not deservedly but as far as raw defending goes I think Worley matches him. Wright has that extra composure in possession but if you're talking just getting in blocks, crunching challenges and aerially then I think Worley is as good if not better than Wright. Either way they are a phenomenal pairing and both young enough to possibly blossom into yet another legendary Oxford United centre back pairing. Baldy, it's surprising, but I actually 100%, wholeheartedly agree with you. I think Worley is a fantastic player, and he's only 21? 22? He has the aerial dominance of the Beast, extremely surprising pace, a good tackle, vocal presence and the ability to cover for his own mistakes. Even his distribution seems to be getting better! If it wasn't for the near-faultless performances of Maclaren and Batt, Worley would be my man of the match.

How can any defender be called exceptional and be called part of an potentially legendary OUFC centre back partnership when we haven't kept a clean sheet in 18 games? I believe Worley is suspended for the Northampton game, if Sangare has a good game and we finally keep I clean sheet I think Worley may be out of the team for some time. That's my view anyway. You could say the same about the goalkeeper, surely? Perhaps it isn't the centre back's fault. I wasn't sure who was at fault for the goal today, two players failed to clear it, and both of them should take responsibility. If neither of them were Wright or Worley, there's your answer. The goals aren't their fault. The main reason we concede is because we don't close down crosses, and we're slow to get the ball clear. While the second could be the fault of the central defenders, the first absolutely isn't.

He also said in an interview that he sees his time here as a stepping stone to higher things, so don't expect him to hang around.

That was quite a while ago, but nonetheless, it's an interesting interview. The single thing I have to question there is will he have the ability to play in the premier league any time soon? Because, so long as Oxford are on the up, I don't see why he'd leave aside from to go to the premier league.

What he's also stopped from earlier in the season is the long hoof up field.. Now it seems his first thought is to get the ball down and play from the back../

I believe Worley is suspended for the Northampton game, if Sangare has a good game and we finally keep I clean sheet I think Worley may be out of the team for some time. That's my view anyway. Both Jake Wright and Harry Worley have been exceptional recently as has Clarkey. They've all made some errors but look at the level we're at, even Premier Lg players make errors in each game. Also, only looking at the lack of clean sheets ignores the approach the team have adopted in the last few games. CW has set the team up to attack rather than be defensive even when leading which, imo, suits us better overall and is more entertaining. In addition, the Worley/Wright partnership has hardly been together in a run of games, or for many of those 18 games either, but they have played the last 3. Whilst, I agree it is extremely premature to even talk about a potential legendary partnership, it is showing plenty of encouraging signs. Worley isn't suspended either, and if he was considering what CW has said about Wright/Worley being his 1st choice Centre-halves, then when available he would come straight back into the side for Sangare, imo.

Surprised by this thread. A bit OTT
I think Worley has great, great potential but, for me, he's the weak link in a defence which is just not tight enough
He gets beaten in the air far too often. See the goal conceded at Aldershot for proof of that
He needs to do plenty of work and could lose his place to Sangare

Worley is in better form than Wright and Wright is playing brilliantly.

In the one I saw, the ball flew past tonkin who had no chance, and clist was beaten at the far post by gutteridge... just how exactly was worley involved, particularly in the air? And if by 'weak link' you mean slightly worse than Wright, then that's understandable. Both Tonkin and Batt, however, are defensively weaker than Worley by a fair way. Not only that, but to say Worley is bad in the air? That's the one area of his game you absolutely cannot fault, surely? His problem comes more in the passing department, where he fails to clear the ball quickly, but quite frankly he's not the only person on our team guilty of that.
