Having a blinder against Derby, running the show, some lovely touches, passes and he's taking no nonsense from Robbie Savage

Crawley look an excellent side - Derby struggling to live with them.

Bulman was still good enough in my eyes. Happy with McLaren, but Bully will be clapped by me if he plays at the Kassam again. Unless it's in a Swindon shirt ...

It was, and is, a ridiculous assertion that Bulman couldn't hack it at this level. Still really puzzles me why we got rid when we did.

Also potentially (if he's been good) we'll have chapman back, who wilder is a big fan off next season

It was, and is, a ridiculous assertion that Bulman couldn't hack it at this level. Still really puzzles me why we got rid when we did. Because apart from Asa Hall, all our midfielders are better than Bulman. That's bollocks! Before Mclaren came in, Bulman was by far the best holding midfielder in the squad. He was positionally probably the best player at the club. We play our 3 midfield as an upside triangle and that's why Bulman was in place. Wilder thought Payne would be a good defensive midfielder with a little more creativity, something we needed at that time as we had a lack of goals. However, when Payne came in, we scored a little more but conceded a lot more. We had the best defence in the league at the start of the season. Guess what? when Bulman went we didn't and look where we are.. 18 games without a clean sheet is it? Mclaren is in though now so our clean sheet will come soon.

Bulman isn't and never has been a holding midfielder tho. He's an energetic, all running midfielder. Murray and Chapman were the holding deep midfielders last season. At the start of the season, Heslop was his replacement, and Hall is at mo. When Heslop was on form, he was a better player than Bulman. But he's not as consistant. He's a better player than Hall. Payne has more potential. Chapman wont be out till September at the earliest, and only if he's been a good boy.
Bulman wanted to leave.

This is always my argument about Bullman when people call him a holding midfielder. Combative yes but Holding no. I mean he was just as likely to be seen chasing down the opposition centre backs as he would be sitting in front of our defence. I don't think we have another midfielder at the club who has the energy he has. Heslop is much more creative than Bullman but in no way IMO is Heslop a replacement for Bullman (very different type of players). If anyone is similar it is Hall who chases everything but even he is a different type of player (supposed to score goals).

I think people should just get over it. He was a decent player but we are hardly short of midfielders are we.
