Went to see him tonight, did anyone else go this week? Brilliant, although a few walked out in the circle accoring to my brother. Must have thought his stage act would mirror what he did on Mock The Week, WRONG!
Warm up act was Craig Russell, the Canadian in shorts who has been on Live at The Appollo, great value too.
Well worth the 13 month wait since receiving my ticket as a birthday present.

he annoyed me, saw him on wednesday night. didn't think his jokes were that good, rellyed on shook tactics. something else that made angry was how PC he was when approaching the subject of race. not that i wanted him to be racist but i did think what a funny old world we live in where he could happily joke about maddy Mccann, peodaphilia and cancer victims, but be careful around the subject of race! perhaps i'm just too old and synical.

Remember Bernard Manning? he was a stand up comedy genius but was labelled as a racist and never worked on TV again.

Saw one clip of him where he targetted black people in the audience and basically racially abused them. 'genius' it certainly was not.

Boyle is funny, but agree he would never be brave enough to do jokes involving race, it would be the end of his lucrative career. The backlash against racism has now gone so far that it has stifled free speech, even if whats being said is not racist.
Bernard Manning was a racist, but mostly a harmless loudmouth bigot trying for an easy laugh, actually got kicked off tv because he was past it and the audience for the type of shows he was on had dwindled. Interestingly when he did his national service as a young man he served as a prison guard for Nazi officers awaiting trial after the war, puts his racist jokes into perspective a bit!

If I'm honest Sex on Fire it was a good 7-8 years ago I saw it so couldn't accurately date it's age. It was pretty horrendous though and left a nasty taste in my mouth at least. I never liked him much before that (what I got to see of him anyway) but that was just it for me. It wasn't comedy, it was a racist verbal assault plain and simple. It was certainly no loss to comedy when he disappeared off the radar.
