The series has been devalued to such an extent that the result is largely irrelevant.
England batting first are 45 for 1 should anyone wish to know.

Would take that, it would make an interesting chase under lights for Pakistan.

I think Bell could make a century if he has a shade of luck. And I wouldn't put it past Pakistan to collapse. It could be an interesting finish. Still England need to score some runs now.....

Yeah not looking like an assured performance from England. I'm not a Bell fan and his two innings since returning to the side have done nothing to convince me he should replace Bopara.

I am a bit of a Bell fan I must admit, when he is on form he is fantastic to watch, but why does he have an issue in the 20's all the time? I haven't read much from CricInfo today, but I expect he had a few classy shots, then a stupid dismissal.

If you are a Bell fan you'll remember his almost double century against SA. That was an awesome innings though England should have declared much earlier. I'm a Bopara fan, though neither Bell nor Bopara are a patch on my hero Tendulkar.

You see an innings of such quality (look back to Warks in the Pro 40 final last week as well), but then he has too many 'elegant failures'. Fantastic talent though when on form.

Fantastic talent though when on form. 2 years ago Bopara scored 201 no against Leics in the Friends Provident 50. He has scored many swashbuckling innings since but not at test level. He did hit 45 from 16 balls against Bangladesh in an ODI this summer but can't consistently do it. I'm confortable with bell going to the ashes ahead of Bopara, but Trott is having a deterioration in form at the moment. We'll see. Whoever goes has pressure to deliver.

I think Trott is as good as on the plane already, Bell as well. I would have no problem with Bopara going either. 2.30 this afternoon the announcement isn't it? It is strange to think that Bell's case for an ashes squad place has been helped by his injury ruling him out for a large part of the summer. On another note, this... www.cricinfo.com/the-ashes-2010-11/content/story/478440.html...needs to be sorted out if true. I'm all for staying up half the night to watch the game, but I think my wife and my boss would have some serious words!!!

It is 2:30 today. Trott agreed is as good as on the plane. Davies has come through as deputy wicketkeeper at Kieswetter's expense. Bowling looks ok. The squad pretty much picks itslef including KP. I think England will give the Aussies a good run and it could go down to the wire. Pakistan humbled the Aussies recently but they are a different proposition on their own pitches. Will be exciting for sure.
