As they banned me from the site for expressing my dislike for the Oxford Mail, i cant post on the new forum. What i think needs to be done, is get those over from the Oxford Mail site who believe there is loads of forums people are joining, and who think its better to stay on the Oxford Mail forum.
If someone can, i think a topic needs to be added on there, or an excisting one commented on, that this is the new, and only main replacement for tiu. And also that people should sign up to Rage and Oxvox forums, and that all 3 forums are the alternatives, but this being the main one to keep everyone together. I think a few people think there are to many alternatives, but if someone could mention what ive said, i think we may have more success.
Welcome to the new This Is United, all Oxford fans United

I've also been banned. Very sad state of affairs. They can't be banning old timers like me and hope for that place to have a hope in hell.
Interestingly, apart from the new site being of very poor quality and it being very transparent that they wanted to advertise more and make more money, I think the PR by the "Ed-Admin" chap has been poor. Locking down the old forum, banning a few people for suggesting other forums, a couple of quite aggressive posts to users. He has done newsquest no favours.
The traffic they get through that site now will vastly drop, not just on the forum but i expect on the sports section too with the reports, which will mean a real revenue drop for them on banners.

The Oxford Mail site is awful. Doubt it will work. I'll stay here if that's ok?

After close on 3,750 posts on TIU since November 2002, I've decamped !
That forum is so slow and so bland.

I was banned before I could even post. Probably because I used my normal email which had been banned from TiU, and forgot to use my 'spare' which had allowed to escape the mods.

It's an extraordinary error by the Mail. How much traffic on that site was United traffic? Must have been half? It's virtually disappeared overnight. I used to check it every couple of hours. But with forums and the club site the best place to get up-to-date news (articles on the Mail site were just rehashes of club press releases anyway), they haven't just shot themselves in the foot but blown it clear off

I've just said goodbye on the new TiU. Won't bother posting on there unless something radical happens to the format, which I doubt.
I wasn't overly critical I think, but will be interested to see if it gets removed.
I wonder whether newsquest will be bothered if the flow to the site decreases significantly, and I wonder what sort of advertising revenue they get from there anyway?

Id be disappointed if any fans weren't United with us and stayed there. People should continue to go over there and mop up the remainders.

Here's the latest from the banning order thread, if anyone is interested...cant believe I wasted my time Jason Collie wrote: To those complaining about the banning of people, as ed-admin said moderation was not always perfect on the old site. Some other forums may have been promoted randomly on the old site. But what we have had is a campaign spread across several threads telling people to ditch this forum and head elsewhere. It may be a simplistic view, but try standing in the middle of tescos telling people to go to asda and see how long you last. Myles Francis wrote: But this isn't just one or two people standing in Tesco shouting "Shop at Asda!". It's a significant proportion of your loyal customers and if Tesco were in that situation I know that they'd be trying to find out how to make it right and retain customers rather than arbitarily banning them and driving them towards the opposition. A gigantic gonad has been dropped on this one. Jason Collie wrote: You seem to be overlooking the main point. The old forum was no longer supported and was breaking down. It had gone past its shelf life. To continue the simple supermarket thread - the shop had been condemned. We've moved to another one around the corner. It is different and you don't like it. But that doesn't mean you're able to sit in the ruins of the old one and not have a chunk of roofing fall on your head. Berlin_Ox wrote: Banning people or not is your prerogative, you have the power and can use it as you wish (see the terms and conditions). However...it seems increasingly so that you are also missing the point, namely not the reasons WHY but HOW you have gone about it. You seem to love the tenuous shop analogy, so I will use it as well. First off, everyone thought that our shop was just hunky-dory...it had its faults but it was familiar and well-used. Then one day we find the shop is actually condemned and will be shut in two weeks. We also find that, unbeknownst to us, a brand new shop has been made around the corner as a replacement. The customers were not told about this, but on the same day as the condemnation notice the old shop is closed, forcing us to visit the new one. No-one wants to sit in the old shop, cos its dangerous...but we wouldnt mind an adequate replacement. "OK", think the customers, "lets give it a shot!" They then visit the new shop and do not like the store layout and a mass of other things that, surely, are not too difficult to change. So we all offer our feedback to the manager (we would have done this earlier, had we known about the impending doom of the old shop, but were not given the chance). "Sorry", says the manager, "this store is sponsored and defined by people way above my head. We can't change anything at all so if you don't like it...tough". The customers are not happy, some mutter about another yellow supermarket a little way away that was like the old one, and even better. The manager flexes his muscles and chucks them out of the shop, leaving it empty. Now the manager of the shop stands alone in front of the fruit and veg, without a customer in sight...away on the horizon, the little yellow supermarket is crammed with new happy customers. "I wonder what our bosses and advertising department will make of this..." he thinks.

On the old forum, they seem to have deleted any discussion on going to another forum. Bastards. I bet traffic at their website will go down. I used to look at all the news before going on the TIU forum and I doubt I'll even bother now.
