No mention of Tim Vine yet? Sure, he's a one liner comic, but that's fine with me. Throw in Milton Jones and Stewart Francis and you have the full set of comedians.
Jim Davidson, Roy 'Chubby' Brown, Jethro etc. are outdated rubbish.

Dara O'Briain & Ross Noble are the best I've seen, can have no material but stand there for two hours and you'll still want more. Sheer genius.
Don't see the appeal of Jimmy Carr/Frankie Boyle as stand-ups, on panel shows they are alright, but 90 mins of one crude one liners makes for a very drab affair, whereas 20 mins of Tim Vine/Stewart Francis/Milton Jones is awesome.

Bill Hicks, Didn't get to see him alive but have watched/read most of his stuff and I think of the ones I mentioned earlier he would be my headliner.

I always loved watching Dave Allen when I was little with my gran and grandad, didn't need to eff and blind to be funny.
Then you have George Carlin and Bill Hicks, both classics. Eddie Izzard has me in stitches as well.
I also find Chris Rock funny in small doses.

Jimmy Carr, that is some one who has a face that says "Slap Me"
Russell Brand, he's someone that should be selected for euthanasia, talentless prat.
Billy Connelly, past it.

Completely disagree that Dara O'Briain just does a "cheeky Irishman" act, he's one of the cleverest, naturally funniest and down to Earth comedians there are. He does an excellent job at taking quite highly intelligent material and making it funny for everyone, plus he's brilliant at riffing and improvising with a crowd.
Went to see Rich Hall at the New Theatre a few years ago and he was great. Jimmy Carr also.
Other than that, I do like Michael McIntyre but he has about an hour's worth of material in his entire brain, so he's only funny once.
Can't stand Marcus Brigstocke. I want to smack him every time I see his pompous face.

Seen John Bishop on the box a couple of times, i could relate to most of his observations and found a lot of them really funny -which is good coz that's the whole point. Interested to hear if he can sustain that and with new material. Billy Connolly before he went all Hollywood (and got old) was for me brilliant. Bob Monkhouse was a superb one liner, quick, witty and apparently did some really 'Blue' Comedy. As already mentioned -Jasper Carrot was very funny at times. I can't stand the fat bloke with the Posh voice who side skips onto the stage, name? I intend going to the Comedy Club in Oxford - anyone been since it re-opened?
