www.oufc.co.uk/page/News/0,,10342~2116895,00.html So it would appear the new management regime is working well to convince Mr Branson that OUFC is a worthwhile business partner. Let's hope this is the beginning of a growing relationship between OUFC and Virgin. Who knows where it will end up? Interesting as Branson continually distanced himself from any interest in working with OUFC previously. How significant is this move for the future? I've been led to believe in the past that Branson's son is an Oxford fan? This being true, and now having more of a personal interest in the fortunes of OUFC, Branson might be persueded to attend the odd game, get the football bug and before he knows it Virgin our club/stadium/shirt sponsors/investing in the playing staff/infrastructure and pushing for the championship playoffs! Okay so obviously I'm overreacting for the purpose of a good debate but I do think it's interesting given the club's greatly improved PR, publicity and business acumen. The sky's the limit!

I doubt Dickie has any knowledge of the Business deal with Virgin Atlantic. If he has it would be just a passing interest, his name has naturally cropped up time and time again - but he's obviously not interested in little ol Oxford United. He's got far too many other distractions. Shame.

You just don't know what might come of a deal like this a few years down the line - promotional activity may increase and Virgin may look at increasing the amount of exposure they gain through OUFC, particularly if we manage to gain promotion from league 2 over the next couple of seasons. Let's put it this way. Now they're on board - in however small a capacity at present - they're certainly worth keeping on the right side of.

Very interesting. Like you say it's certainly a change of stance and who knows what deals may be being brokered in the background. Perhaps with ownership of the ground they could be potential backers of the 4th stand at least or have even more involvement in the club.

Would be great worldwide branding if we could get the OUFC badge painted on to a few of the Virgin planes. But any association with a brand like this is very good news and shows that the club can now be taken more seriously, especially when it comes to sponsorships and corporate deals and any potential stadium purchase or takeover.

Great news and it typifies the effort that KT et al are making to extend our business involvement and partnerships - hopefully a very exciting and lucrative link in the future.

I don't think this means much in respect to Branson. He's a clever man, a rich man, who knows full well that there's no money to be made from a L2 football club.

Or just the instruction to "flush over Sw**don" maybe!

Best to build a base from little League 2 beginnings than try and jump in once the club is at a higher level. Sensible on both sides.

I met Branson and his son away at Notts Forest back in 95 or 96 when we drew in the FA Cup. We lost the replay to an Andy Silensie (excuse spelling, Italian striker who scored I think 2 goals for Forest). Anyway, they were both Oxford fans then.

Virgin Atlantic stewardesses are gorgeous. Tsk. There speaks a man who's never been on: - Qatar Airways
- Cathay Pacific
- Thai
- early (pre-munter) Emirates
- Kenya Airways
- some SAA flights
- allegedly Singapore
Not to mention that MEA has gorgeous sporty middle-aged wimmin, and Gulf used to fly a decent crew of Geordie & Irish stunnahs. Virgin girls are snotty and full of sh it. If I want to get insulted while flying I'll get an expert to do it, a leathery ole BA dyke. You can't beat 'em; I know, I've tried.

I've never been on virgin atlantic, just basing my opinion on the photo on this thread and the advert on the telly. I have been with BA and they were not up to much. I guess I'm turned on by powerdressing in red.....

BA have the worst looking stewardesses in the world- that I am sure!
I always found Virgin stewardesses rather good to look at..... (I originally wrote Virgin girls and thought I may get myself in some trouble!!)
Branson used to go up the Manor a few times in the Championship days with his kid. I have no idea if the Kassam era ended their interest...
