Good point about stability. Utterly key. Wilder made a mistake lasts eason. Has he learnt from it? On the point re midfielders, I must say I've been struggling. However, I think it's important to classify them as 'defensive' midfielders and 'attacking' Defensive: Heslop, Bulman, Clist and, I guess Sawyer Attacking: Hall, Barker, Deering, Philliskirk To break it down further only 2 defensive midielders can play every week so having four would be pot on. I'm sure we all agree having to blokes for each position is ace As for the 'attacking berth', well, in a 4-3-3, only one can play. So it would appear we're overstocked in this regard If Deering and Philliskirk can really play in a front 3, and the jury's out, then I'm not too concerned Can anyone recall the 4-5-1 set up when Wilder first arrived? I would put BAKer in as a defensive midfileder, as everytime I have seen him play he has sat in front of the back four. I also think he looks a decent player. Heslop to me is more of an attacking midfielder.

Not too worried about the situation; if we have a possible goal-scorer other than Beano, Green, Midson etc then fine but if these latest acquisitions are goal-scoring midfielders then even better. Players popping up in similar mode to Lampard and Gerrard must be a good thing. A team of defensive midfielders would be a worry but a mixture of defensive and attacking midfielders is quite exciting.

With regard to his supposed attitude problem it seems that Wilder is prepared to take a chance on players who have a poor outlook. the likes of M.Green and Batt could both be said to have had a degree of attitude issues when they arrived.
It wouldn't surprise me if we sign Sawyer on a short term deal so that Wilder can see if he can work with him but still be able to get rid if it doesn't;t work out.
At the end of the day if he signs and his attitude can be amended the we have a quality player, if it can;t we can ditch him asap.
All this is just speculation of course.

Hells teeth, I'm really beginning to fail to understand what Wilder is playing at. The squad if anything now already has too many midfielders in it. It does not a huge depth of strikers. Phillishirk is another midfielder (who it seems Wilder is pretending is a striker, I hope he is right with this one). My worries are still the front line and how many goals it has in it. A new doubt is beginning to appear and that is Wilder will be tempted to mess with players like he did around Christmas. I hope to hell he has a midflield fixed in his mind that he is going to play for nearly every game, and we are not back to this different players every week. The lesson we should have learnt last year is that stability is key. Maybe CW has too much money to play with!!

The lesson we should have learnt last year is that stability is key. Agree. But on stability. We will only get that if Wilder is happy with what he's got. And by continuing to use triallists in midfield you have wonder, is he? Looking at the backgrounds of Sawyer and Gill I can't really see that they would improve on what we already have. Is there any harm in having a look? If these players impress and are still available at a later a date, and we have an injury crisis then you'll all be hailing Wilder a genius when he offers them a deal.

I think that's the point. Have a look, and if they add something then enquire....
