Out of two, Luton fans were more gutted about not getting Heslop back!
They were'nt very fussed about Hall leaving, so it seems that a change of scenery has done him some good.

I still think a fully fit Clist will replace Heslop.

I still think a fully fit Clist will replace Heslop. That may be so, but as with everyone else he's going to have to force the issue. Heslop will almost certainly start the season due the Clist's operation and then he'll have to bide his time like everyone else.

Listening to some Luton fans on another site, most seemed sad to see Asa Hall released, and only had good things to say about him.

I still think a fully fit Clist will replace Heslop. No chance, I am willing to bet that Heslop will play more games in midfield than any other player this season (unless he is out through injury). Even though Clist was class last season, I think he will struggle to get back in the team, especially if he is not fit for the start of the season.

Clist is naturally left footed which gives him the advantage over Hall and Heslop. I've already seen Heslop and Hall give the ball away more times in pre-season than Clist did the entire last season. When Clist is fit he will be back in the team asap. Heslop and Hall will have to fight it out for the third midfield slot alongside Bulman and Clist IMO.

In midfield does it really matter which foot a player is naturally using?

In midfield does it really matter which foot a player is naturally using? On the left side of a midfield three, yes. It gives balance and not cutting inside will keep a move flowing.

The thing that impresses me the most about both Simon Heslop and Asa Hall is the fact that they both seem to be willing to have a shot, and both are fairly accurate too from what I have heard and seen. Heslop and Bulman will be our two key midfielders this season I think, Clist, Asa Hall and richie baker will be battling it out for the other position. Also finally we have midfielders who can whip in a good set piece especially corners!

Agree with Mr Ostrich that Heslop will be the main man this season. You can see he has more about him than Clist and Hall, a better overall player.

I thought Heslop was outstanding in second half against Leceister and against Man Utd....so fingers crossed...but a word of caution is to remember how good Jamie Guy looked preseason 2 years ago!!

I'm surprised at how much praise Heslop is getting compared to the others. He's got an excellent pass on him, and a decent shot as well, but I reckon Hall is a better player all-around. Defensively he's great, and while he sometimes disappears during attacks, he really seems dangerous, especially with his long shots. Heslop looks solid, very solid, but not outstanding. And we all know how good Bulman is.

Heslop to me is a similar player to Clist in that he quietly goes about his business, while keeping the whole side ticking over (watch how many times he drops deep to pick the ball up off the centre-halfs and move it forward). What he has over Clist (based purely on what I've seen of him in a Yellow shirt, so forgive me) is a more attacking/creative threat; his movement to create Beano's goal against Leicester and has a great strike on him.

My view is that when a game get physical Clist goes missing. I just can't see Hall being the same although I guess time will tell.

Not sure abouth that, but if clist is missing for the start of the season he may struggle to regain his place. Look what happened to billy last term. He missed the start, Clarke made no f#ck ups and elvis plays about 2 games all season. Unless of course wilder was using the turley injury as a smokescreen for the installation of clarke who had been bought as the new first choice, which i wouldn't doubt.

Id say with our midfield 3, hall will be the furthest up for longer, with Bulman picking up anything and tackling winning the ball with Heslop being the foot on ball look around chap, although all 3 have had awesome distribution games in pre season.
