better as a sub. More energy and directness when he comes on than when he starts i believe.

No he just needs a few games to get going again, also he's been playing on the right of the front 3 when he comes on but started down the centre today.

Beano needs to start.
Think his illness before Xmas was quite debillitating, he lost a lot of weight, and he is only just now returning to fitness. Beano makes things happen.

Definitely thought Midson should have started.
I honestly believe that would/could have changed the 1st half score - i.e we would have scored.

Interesting thread. Have a look at our win ratio when Beano starts and when he is either on the bench or not available.
You may well be surprised.
As for the team yesterday, yet another bit of tinkering by Wilder.

As for the team yesterday, yet another bit of tinkering by Wilder. Don't understand this. Midson looked off the pace against Bradford, Beano came on and made all the difference, so he starts. That's not tinkering, that makes perfect sense. Also, of course he's better as a sub. Everyone looks better when they come on with full energy against a tiring opposition.

Got the impression Beano was totally knackered by the end.. Not surprising really, all considered...

because at the moment he is having more impact from the subs bench! anyway now he hasnt scored hell be dropped ! because wilder is fare and that what he does to midson when he doesnt score in a game ?? or am i thinking that he still wants him out! and that scoreing a hatrick f**ked up his plans?

Yes, just like he did last week...oh hang on...he didn't have a clear cut chance did he...oh hang on...he had a free header five yards out and at least two others...oh hang on...he changed the first half score...he should have had 3!!

Not quite true. Wilder gave Midson two games, and Midson didn't look like scoring in either. I wasn't there yesterday, but it sounded like Beano made a few chances for himself (although I question why Wilder put Beano in the middle where he tends to get marked out of the game, Maclean is much better in that position). Midson, by contrast, had a chance put on a plate for him at Bradford, missed it and didn't do all that much else. He needs a bit of consistency, whereas Beano always brings something to the team.
But nickmerry, stop going out on a manhunt against Midson. You're so quick to snap at every mistake he makes - I don't much like Tonkin or Potter, but I fully appreciate when they do well and don't just go around picking up on every mistake they make. He's had a good scoring record this season, and if you can't spot how in the majority of games he played he's been very good at bringing others into play, then that clearly shows you're unwilling to give him any sort of a chance.

Did anyone else think because Beano started in the middle, Mclean was not so involved?

Did anyone else think because Beano started in the middle, Mclean was not so involved? Agree 100%. When they've played together before, Beano's been out wide with Maclean in the centre, I don't get Wilder changing that.

Anyone notice that our goal at Northampton came from Beano roughing up their defence. Four defenders were watching him whilst Craddock nipped round the back (offside I thought at the time and looked like it on the Telly) and the ball broke to him.

Yeh agree like I posted at the top of the thread, he really is wasted out wide while I think It doesn't take too much away from Beanos game playing wider.
