I can understand the need to move again but i fear for the future of this forum. There has been a degree of apathy since the move from TIU and another move isn't going to help.....

That has been an important concern of mine. But the news has gone down with understanding and very positive from most. the forum appearance won't be changing (like TiU did)

I hear this argument all the time. Some people seem to look back at TIU as if it was a really busy forum, when in reality it never had the level of activity that this one has. Matchday threads never ever went into the 200's, and threads over 20 posts weren't that common, whereas here we have huge activity over 20, not to mention the epic threads on here that go into the 100's. that never use to happen on TIU. I think because people can see the amount of user online at anytime, they assume that those numbers aren't high, but believe me I'm a member of another forum, and they could only dream of the constant numbers that this forum gets. You only have to go to another football forum website to realise how busy this one is!

I'm not the only regular poster here who firmly believes that TIU had far more activity than yellowsboard. And this isn't a criticism of this forum or eaststandboy - just the truth.

TiU took years to get where it was and was taken away. No other forum can match it... but we have to make do with what we have posters make forums

There was certainly far more post-match activity on TiU, or was that just when we were doing badly and more people wanted their say? If we can get 5-600 regular posters to switch, job done as half the current 1,200 don't post anyway.

On TiU and on here there was always more "activity" when the U's are having a bad patch. But only from a moaning minority most of the time. When the U's are going well they vanish and others pop their heads up but have much less to say and so there is less "activity".
No I've no stats to back that up, its just a gut feeling built up over the years. And now that TiU has sunk without trace there's no stats available to back up any statement that TiU was busier.
Just forget TiU now, its not coming back, Or ar there people on here who'd rather go to the Fail? Your choice.

Some are obviously other fans who only come on when we play them, so they will sign up whenever we do.

Its a shame its still not there to view, because you would be surprised, by the thread sizes, 60 to 70 post for a matchday thread, and boards like miscellaneous.... forget it! hardly no one using it all. I had been viewing and occasionally posting on TIU since 1998 and I can already see this is busier. Its only because you can see the amount of posters online that you think its not busy. If there was that facility back on TIU the figures would have been even smaller.
Can you remember a single matchday thread that got over 100 posts? let alone 200.

I don't take any notice of the viewing numbers. I know its not as busy as TIU as the threads don't get as many replies or as quickly as TIU used to. As for the matchday threads well i'm pretty sure they were a lot longer on TIU than on here. Once again ,and specifically in reference to Malcolml's unnecessary comment, I'm merely making an observation and I would like nothing more than for the hard work people such as eaststandboy put in to pay off.

Well I often seem to make unnecessary comments and maybe this will be a few more.
Nothing personal meant to anyone but I for one know more about the risks involved than most and I also know the amout of work that esb is putting into this step-over.
Anybody who has been involved in the loss of a website knows how much pain that does after all the time put unto setting it up. esb is doing the only sensible thing possible. Waiting until the boat has sunk is not the way to go.
So folks, if you just go and register on the new site this weekend, the step-over on Monday will be painless. At this moment more than 200 people have taken the step and I see many of the regulars there already.
Just a few statistics...
the current membership is 1237. Of these 309 have never posted, 385 have posted less than 6 times and 147 less than 11 times. That leaves 396 people with a reasonable, to large, to abnormally excessive number of posts. More than the half of this last group have registered. And that's the group we need to keep this forum going. Sounds good to me.
