I think it was the poncey university folk which renamed the Thames in Oxford to 'Isis', which to me has absolutely no bearing or relevance to our football club. You saw the way they reacted when we filled up St Giles...... they hadn't a f**king clue what was going on!
Yellows Park. ...... has to be.

From a quick google the origins of the name Isis don't seem clear.
But I don't really see the problem. The lords of the Manor that gave the old ground its name probably didn't have much to do with our football club either did they?
Its a name thats all.

associated with... but they didn't name the river that. No reason why the football stadium can't also use that name and if there ever was an association between the name Isis and the university it would disappear instantly.

Its associated with the University Rowing Club, I beleieve. their second boat is called Isis but it's named after the river, not the other way around. The Isis is a decent name. i do tend to associate the word with the university because they use the word more than we do, but that'd change in an instant. nothing wrong with naming the stadium after something intrinsically linked with the city. the most important thing to me is that there's decent reason for the name and it has a good ring to it. it has to roll off the tongue. Grenoble Road has a better ring to it than Minchery Farm but i'm quite taken with The Isis.

You got a U at G.C.S.E? I thought that was impossible! Back in 95 when I did mine I got a G in history despite doing no coursework and writing a couple of joke answers in the exam. Unless Hitler really did only have have on ball I cant see where I got the marks from. Nah U's are possible. It was 60% coursework and 40% exam. Now I actually think that the teacher lost my coursework because I wasn't the only person to get a U. I'm great at computers in general. I can touch type - I learnt in primary school. Dunno what happened. I did dislike the course - it wasn't really I.T related, it was all about how to create a presentation or mail merge Access and Word. It wasn't Business and Communication Systems? I got a C in that and didn't hand my coursework in.

Back to the title of the thread - After this morning's events surely it should be the 'Pink Bull' stadium.

Isis - from the roman word Thamasis or Thamisis. When the romans occupied this country the river was called Thamasis or Thamisis. This was later shorted after the romans left to Thames although the folk of Oxford kept the back end for reasons which are unclear and called the stretch that runs through Oxford Isis.
The university started using it for the reserve team of the university boat race team only a few decades ago.
I think the stadium should be named after one of our all time legends. I therefore put forward the following suggestion:
The Steve Antrobus Stadium.
I'll get my coat.........................
