Grenoble Road.
Absolutely no to 'Minchery Farm' (we don't play at a farm), 'United Stadium' (sounds like something from some rubbish American 'believe in yourself' sentimental film about 'soccerball'), any references to the Manor or sponsorship deals.

And now back to the thread....
I like the sound of "Minchery Farm". That name holds fond memories for me, and I'm talking about before it was a nightclub.
But could live with "the BMW". Or, at a push, "the Virgin".
Really, anything except what it now is or anything with Manor in it.

Blackbird Manor or Stadio Blackbird or The Priory.

Beav, thanks for the explanation! Absolutely no to 'Minchery Farm' (we don't play at a farm) We didn't play at a Manor either

Hopefully, one day, someone will come up with a decent name. So far all Ive seen is a load of unimaginitive tripe. Sorry. Mr Grumpy The Yellow Submarine anyone?

The best suggestions I have heard are the Blackbird stadium or the Isis stadium because they are names that relate uniquely to the city, but are not boring like Grenoble Rd or Minchery Farm
Guess we're never all going to agree on one though!

Sliced Cross Stadium. In honour of the greatest winger to pull on the yellow shirt, Mr George Lawrence. I would have the great man there to cut the tape as well.

THe Isis is a very good shout.

THe Isis is a very good shout. Isis is too Uni sounding for me. Grenoble Road and Minchery Farm might be boring... and names such names as Anfield, Old Trafford, Wembley etc are also just as boring when written, but they evoke an atmosphere because of the history. I'd rather have a boring name that actually means something real than those made up ones that could be anywhere such as Stadium of Light etc.

Isis is too Uni sounding for me. Not really, its the old Oxford name for the river Thames - just because the uni uses it doesn't mean we shouldn't. The river has a lot of significance to the history of Oxford.

Oxford wouldn't be here without the Isis. If were to boycott everything that the Uni had ever touched we'd not even be able to play football!

I think the Isis name is the best so far. Its' short and snappy and relates to the part of the Thames close to the stadium. Maybe we could buld the new stand in the shape of a pyramid to reflect the Egyptian connection. That might bring us some extra positive energy ;D.

I like The Isis for a stadium name, its short and easy to drop in to conversation as in " going up the Isis to watch the match?", bit like the Manor was. And it has links with the city as people have said. Would be nice to have a ground name that you were not ashamed to say, it is embarrasing playing at a stadium with that c*nts name attached to it.
