Jim Smith achieved back to back promotions, Chris Wilder may well follow in those footsteps.
If we get promoted, which is not the worst possible outcome, then we would improve our finances, attendances would improve, we would get better players and go through the same debates we've had with Creighton el al when Wilder has to replace other favourites, we would be a step closer to the aim of Championship football.
Wilder's stock improves, we get compensation from a club who wanted him, we are better off financially. Happy Days.

Think it is too early to start talking about promotion, let alone what may happen after. I couldn’t disagree more.
Success breeds success if managed well. If we were promoted and if Wilder were to leave I have every confidence that the club could continue to go forward. Kelvin showed when appointing Wilder he knew what he is doing. The club is bigger than any individual.

I am in the camp which thinks we need five more wins to maintain our Football League status. Then I am happy to re-appraise.....

We have an advantage in that we're not a small club for our level, or even the level above. Often successful managers at small clubs will move to larger clubs with more potential and more money, but I don't think there are many clubs in League 1 who would be more tempting than going for the long term aims here. And I'm not sure that he'd be high up on the list of Championship clubs as he's not had any experience at managing at that level. So I think as long as he's treated well here, and there's no reason to think he's not, he'll be happy to stay with us.

One day he will move on - fact of life. Its not a marriage and if we do not crave success - then I would suggest it would mean he is not doing well anyhow.
Success breeds other clubs wanting your players/ managers.
Enjoy the ride.
Ridic opening statement for a thread in my view.

If we go back down to the Conference then surely the chances of anyone coming in for CW are quite small so that's probably our best bet.
This completely sane arguement was brought to you by gavinarchery.com (prescribing arguement without thought)......

If CW gets us BtB promotion - he deserves to be considered for other (higher) posts. Simples!
A compensation package would no doubt ease our pain - but it would not be the end of the world- KT will see to that.
....and anyway Wright, Rix and Atkins (All with league experience) will probably be around to step in!

Get promoted more money comes in. If we went up the manager would be silly to leave. How many managers have gone up to a higher standard and had success not many.Hopefully we are going to repeat the era from 83 onwards.
