Confirmed tonight Eddie Howe has left Bournemouth for the Burnley job. Great young manager who has just messed up the crucial second managerial move.

Hmm, disagree. Burnley are a good medium sized club. Loyal support, didnt overspend when in premiership. And wouldnt anyone want to test themselves? Bournemouth are a good little club like ours, but moving to a club 2 1/2 the size in terms of attendances, better players, etc. No one would begrudge Eddie giving it a try and would welcome him back with open arms.

Why is moving to Burnley him messing up ? He's too inexperienced for a Premiership club to take a punt on him and there aren't many clubs outside the top league bigger than Burnley. They are a well backed with expectant fans and unless he wants to spend his early managerial career sitting in the comfort zone then this is as challenging as it will get. Personally, if I was a manager in his situation then stepping into a northern cauldron like Burnley would appeal to me much more than a safe little job at a club just happy to be in the championship. He's testing himself and that's admirable but he's only in his early 30's and if you haven't got drive, desire and bravery at that age then forget it. Terrific move for him.

Confirmed tonight Eddie Howe has left Bournemouth for the Burnley job. Great young manager who has just messed up the crucial second managerial move. I agree. The way successful young L1/2 managers who have been lured to a big championship club with lots of expectation have had their careers ruined is saddening. Look at Paul Simpson, hugely successful at Carlisle before going to preston too soon. Now out of work after failing at Shrews and County.

Crystal Palace would have been an awful move for him but not Burnley. They have realistic premiership expectations, Palace are only heading one way so at least Howe seems to recognise a good club when it comes along.

Preston had such expectations when the appointed simpson. Same when they appointed ferguson. In a way its worse that howe has gone to a club with expectations like burnley because if and when he fails to garner instant success he will get the boot, thus ruining a so far promising career. Look at Clough at Derby. A club who did not have the same weight of expectation as the likes of burnley, preston or ipswich, at whom the turnover of managers has been insane. As a result (and i'll admit there is a fair bit of ready good-will at derby) he has been and will be given a lot more time than Howe will be at Burnley depite a lack of spectacular on-pitch success.
