If you're bored, have a read of the cryptic clue striker search of Northampton of late..quite good fun!
Heres where it began:
Northampton manager Ian Sampson has described the club's bid for an unnamed striker as "welcome news for everyone".
Chairman David Cardoza revealed earlier this week that the Cobblers have lodged a cash bid with a fellow League Two club for a striker - which would be the first incoming transfer to involve a fee at Sixfields in over four years.
A few days later turned out to be Shaun Harrad...that offer still stands but I doubt he'd mover there.
First target of today...
"We're quite excited about him, we think he's going to be a player we can develop and we think he's got a chance of being a very, very good player.
"He's 21 years old and he's one that hopefully will grow and evolve with the club.
"We were alerted to him a couple of years back when he was in non-league and we've always kept an eye on him. We have enquired about him on a number of occasions and it's always been a case of trying to get him on loan. This time we're talking about getting him permanently and if we can do that then it will be very exciting."
Of course, it was John Akinde! That deal has fallen through, now:
"It is a player we were looking at not so long ago and one that quite a few clubs have been keeping tabs on.
"We thought with Akinde we could have got him in and developed him but it wasn't to be. The player we've bid for now is a bit older but he's got much more of a solid record."
I reckon its Calvin Zola.
