Youngster at Southampton meant to be a 10million target for Man Utd & Liverpool... Anyone know much about him? You beat me to it junior, I was going to post about him and ask exactly the same question. He's the son of the old Stoke winger Mark Chamberlain, he was a good top flight winger who played for England but he wasn't top drawer. His kid sounds a step up. My brother in law is a Saints fan so I'll try and find out a bit more about him.

Seems to be a superb prospect. Southampton will miss him for sure

They featured him on the local BBC South news a few months back and when they asked him about his dad, he said that he'd told him he used to play, but he didn't know anything else about his career. It made me think he was an arrogant little c*nt, as the guy played at the top level and represented England.
He looks quite good from TV highlights, but £10m for a lad who's played 20 odd games is a joke.

That is ridiculous if true, in the age of Google if your dad used to play football and didn't like talking about it you'd at least look him up.

Rated as being better than Theo at that age. That couldjust mean he has a first touch or end product though...
With Liverpool and Arsenal in for him, United potentially having a look (although they could have been there watching Amos and scouting for the cup game) and others sniffing around, he'll attract a big fee.

Ok so he's the next big thing, but never should a 17 year old kid who has only played 20 games be worth 10M that's one of the problems for English youngsters they get so much pressure on them straight away because of there huge price tags.

Signing for Man U in next few days and being loaned back to Saints for the season.

Signing for Man U in next few days and being loaned back to Saints for the season. Is that because Bale was the one that got away and Fergie doesn't want to miss out this time?

Arsenal are reportedly winning the race. Liverpool will bid tomorrow, offering Saints more money but obviously, a greater challenge. I'm not sure how far MUFC's move has progressed. Arsenal seem to have got in early though. Never a bad ploy.

If I was in his position at the minute I'd choose Man U as I think he has a good chance of first team football there, rule out city straight away if he makes the move for footballing reasons. Chealse seem to get the best talent and waste most of it, Liverpool sinking ship.
If any transfer does go through he's expected to be loaned back for at least the rest of this season?

Liverpool have got alot of promising youth players ( Dougie will tell you more ) so that could attract him likewise the kd factor.. Man utd sells it's self..

Arsenal and Man U, yes. Chelsea and Liverpool, possibly not. Also worth pointing out that he's a Chelsea fan. Only things I can see going for Liverpool are the increased fee for Saints, the knowledge that he'll get football and the fact that his England captain and several team mates play there. Arsenal obviously have trading history with Saints and clearly trust young players. He couldn't go far wrong at MUFC either.

I'm always surprised when any wonderkid turns down Man U simply because they nuture young players better than any other club and offer more stability than any other, Arsenal being a close second.
Chelsea go through managers at a rapid rate and if he chooses Liverpool will KD be boss beyond the season or will a foreign coach be shipped in who becomes under immediate pressure to produce and probably wont take too many chances on a 17 year old.
If I was the father of a wonder kid footballer then I'd point him in the direction of Man U, Arsenal or Spurs as opposed to the instability that seems to blight clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City.

I agree. I hear the whole reason why Milner didnt go to City until the season had started was because he was holding out for an offer by Fergie. But with managerial instability, this is an issue for a 17 year old at United.
