With the hotly debated issue of Wilder's tactics on another thread I was looking up a few stats and it struck me that Wilder has a bigger win ratio than Eddie Howe who everyone is raving about.
Eddie Howe G W D L Win % 101 51 18 32 50.5
Chris Wilder
G W D L Win % 107 58 23 26 54.21

With a better squad, albeit very thin though.

Howe has done it at a better level and in more difficult circumstances?? Transfer embargos etc?
Though on the flip side Howe hasn't had to get a side out of the conference..
To be fair I would have thought Wilder would be on most short lists for any Div 1 and some Championship roles.

The pressure to get out of the conference was (and is for other ex league teams) colossal, a different thing completely to a traditionally non-leauge team on the up, ala Stevenage, Dagenham, Morecombe etc.
Now we're back in the league it feels weirdly relaxing.
I had forgotten the embargo at Bournemouth...

Plus Bournemouth are a league 1 / league 2 club, he's got them from bottom of league to 2nd in league 1, punching above their weight. Oxford are a huge club in the conf and still a big fish in league 2 so shouldn't struggle by default....Only a braindead person could fail to get a club this size to finish in the top 5 in the conference

I have never, ever, come across someone as confusing as you. Make your mind up - Is Chris Wilder a good manager and, if so, will he still be a good manager if we come unstuck at home to Bradford on Saturday ?

He does not even know if he is male or female so he has no hope of understanding anything football related. Or maybe he is just laying a line as usual.............

Apologies Moobs, I thought you started this thread and was gushing over CW hence my reply. I now realise I got that wrong.

Win ratios are not necessarily that accurate an indicator of ability. E.g we beat Eastbourne etc, which we'd expect, as we were a hugely well resources club at that level.
Bournemouth were in the proverbial when Howe took over, but he has got them playing superb attacking football whilst focussing on bringing through young players who then get sold. At only 33, he has a hell of a future.
If CW takes us up from this league, where we are not so much more better resourced, then he will seriously start to become a target.
Not in any way belittling what he achieved last year, as promotion from any level is a superb achievement.

For the record I never wanted Wilder out, I may have debated his merits and questioned his decisions but never called for his head. Just so we're clear on that....
